Mammoth 58268 was based on Juggernaut 2.  I've seen that price on Juggernauts.  I forgot how much was the going price for Juggernaut 1.  $400-$500 USD then?

I think I paid about $300 in 2001 and I thought that was a bargain.  But the bevel gears inside the axles broke down in 2 seconds.  Only then I learned that Jugg 1 was a historical failure.  I called Tamiya and luckily, they sent me an upgrade kit to Jugg 2 (initially they didn't believe that I didn't know about the failure for 2 years).  Anyway, even now, used Juggs cost about $500 USD.  I think Mammoth was a bit more expensive than Jugg 2.  So I'm not surprised to see a NIB kit for $1200.  I doubt that they sell many at that price though.  If it was on a real auction with no minimum bid, I would think that Mammoth would go over $800-$900.  But it all depends on who wants it more, isn't it?

Without any recently sold on eBay, there's not a lot to give these a 'market' value - There's 3 at similar prices and they haven't sold yet so chances are either the prices are too high or there's no market for them at present.
Buy It Now auctions only really show what the seller thinks it's worth and the $1150 one was listed back in September and still hasn't sold

And the price doesn't seem to have been changed since listing

It could be that others for sale at that time were selling for that, but eBay's sold history doesn't go back that far
Chances are, that's set the pricing structure for the other two as it's listed as 'open box'

The other two were both listed in November

Mammoth dump truck had a relatively short production life, not a big seller so quite rare.

Realistic price for a NIB kit around the £700 ~ £800 mark, good built unused examples sell for around £300 ~ £400, used examples with maybe parts missing as low as £150 ~ £250 depending on condition - some parts not easy to find.

Don't judge the Manmoth till you've seen one in real life :) it's huge, it's like a big yellow footstool on wheels... yeah it's ultimately pointless, but damned it's kool

I'd rather own a Mammoth than that coffee-table-sized Lego Milennium Falcon ^_^
