I've finally signed off on my very first RC build(Unimog 406 U900 Wheelie CW-01 Chassis) and wanted to say a big thanks to all you guys here who have been so generous with your advice. I only started this month and already love it and know what my future projects will be. This place is the best forum, because it isn't fragmented into a dozens of sub categories that dilute the knowledge base for the newcomer looking for easy to follow advice from old hands.

I used a window tint from Core RC. Didn't really come out as I hoped and looked more like smoke damage than window tint.

Here you can see how the Flat coat PS-55 looks on the former shiny plastic side body work. You can see the RC4WD 65T Motor I put in to take the edge off the manic standard silver can.

Here I attempted some rudimentary weathering to make the panel lines look like they were filled with grease and dirt. I'll add some more pictures later.

More "greasy" panel lines

3/4 rear view. I used a heat gun with a very low setting to soften the hazard stickers, so they really hugged the contours of the wavy body panel.

Added some foam body post washers to stop that body rattle when in use

Bought an LED light kit from Killerbody, adds a nice touch.

Lost a door handle along the way. I noticed there is a small indentation on the handle which suggests that a real door handle may be possible to screw in there(noted for future build)

Window trims are the only thing I'm truly unhappy with. Messed them up from the start :(

Took the front bumper guard off to add a bit of realism. Will add real wipers to my next build.

So, there you have it, my first ever build. I learned a lot from you guys and by trial and error. I made several mistakes that I will learn from and my next build will be better for it and so on. I'm going to keep this build as is, so it will be a marker for my progress. I had thought of making it a test bed for future ideas and features which I would upgrade and modify before using what I learnt on another project but I decide to keep this as is now. Lock it down and sign off. My next build is a CC-01 Unimog 425 1300L and I will start a proper build thread in the build forum. Again, many thanks for the advice from you chaps.:D

Looks great and congrats on your first build! My first build was a CW01 also.

When I got my CC01, I was torn between the Unimog and the Landfreeder. I ended up going with the Landfreeder, so i'm looking forward to seeing your CC01 build. Nice work.

Looks ace.

It was the CW01 Unimog release that sucked me back into this hobby almost 5 years ago, I just happened to spot it online while looking for something else and, well, here I am.  Probably my favourite vehicle, even though I hated doing the shell.

I want a Unimog 425 too but it'll have to be on the wheelie chassis.

My experience exactly. I hadn't even considered the hobby and just came across this model and thought I'd give it a go. I got hooked straight away. It looks like I will be specialising in Unimogs as there are a thousand variations of the model and scratch building/ modifying will allow me to make as may as I like. A few different chassis will suffice. I think there are about 6 chassis that take Unimog bodies, so I will acquire those as I go.

And thanks for giving me the idea to spray the flatbed black. I remember seeing your model and thinking it looked nice.
