Eventually finished off my Konghead today. Feels like it’s been a long build. But largely due to waiting for bits to arrive.

Nothing too adventurous, have gone for a TrackStar 13.5T brushless motor and an eBay 120A (TSKY) ESC.

Also went for 4ws. With some Hobbyking servos. A little slower than I thought they’d be. But seem fairly stout.

getting all 4 wheels aligned with the 4ws poses a few problems. Especially if using a Y harness on a single channel. As setting the trim may mean not all the wheels are pointing the same way when driving in a straight line.

Due to the shortage of Core-RC Rx’s that work with the CR151. I’ve bought a new radio set. A FlySky one. This has a 6ch Rx. So I’m going to get rid of the Y harness and run each steering servo separately, this will make trimming easier. And allow me to turn off the rear servo. As the 4ws does make it a little twitchy at speed.

The sticker sheet did my head in. I’m not really a fan of doing the bodyshell. But messing about with the stickers seems to have taken longer than building the entire rolling chassis!!

And I kept the sticker set fairly simple.

I opted for the 20 Tooth pinion. But kept the friction shocks. Have to say I’m surprised at how well they work. At least compared to the older friction shocks that come with the Lunchbox. Although the overall suspension design does seem to have limited travel.

And my word, this sucker is heavy.

Mum impressed with the TrackStar motor too. I geared it up with the bigger pinion to get a bit more top speed and the 13.5 seems to have plenty of poke and pace for this kit.

Space is at a premium. Even using a small Rx, there really isn’t much room for the ESC. I had to extend the motor wires too.

Will get a rolling vid soon.

Here it is as a size comparison next to a Lunchbox. For some reason I thought the Konghead was going to be more in the same size class as a Bullhead. But it isn’t.

Looking very nice.

Is that a pair of capacitors for servos?  I built one for Savox, but I don't often see it used.

They are actually part of the ESC. Not sure why they are remote. But it was only a budget ESC, £15’ish. Wasn’t really anywhere else to mount them easily.

That’s looks pretty rapid, get a gos on there and enter it in the speed run thread and I’ll make a new category.. looks atleast 30mph easy.

And a 120a esc for £15, bargain.

@Losi XXT-CR good effort.

I forget how crashy and badly damped these are at speed.

I think the rear tyres just rub the arches under compression a little. I could raise the body up a bit. But it made it look odd when sitting on the shelf.
