Which KV would be suitable for Konghead?  It'll be a basher, I don't want to break speed record.  However, stock 540 seems a bit too slow to be fun.  Matteo's 23turn brushed motor looks much better than the stock motor, but I want just a little bit faster than a 23 turn brushed motor.

I've got options from 3100KV, 3500KV, 3900KV, 4300KV, even 5200KV,  All big cans, not 380 sized.  Initially, I thought I'd go with 3900.  But it dawned on me that 4000mAh LiPo might last only 20 minutes... (I have absolutely no idea how much power these cheap GoolRC sensorless motors consume...they don't indicate turns either)

any idea what I should choose?  Moderately zippy, and not drink crazy amount of electricity?

I would have thought around the 3500kv mark would work?  I have a 13.5T (which has replaced 23T as Super Stock) 3040kv motor which I find works really well in most things, I certainly don't wish they were any faster.  It seems to be the sweet spot for basic Tamiya buggies.  The main thing that holds it back I think in most Tamiya buggies is the limited gearing options.  I get about 25 - 30mins on a 3800 NiMH and the TBLE-02S as well.

Got a TrackStar 13.5T (3040KV) in mine on 2S. Also running a 20 Tooth pinion. Seems pretty peppy and will spin the wheels on tarmac and have a reasonable turn of speed.

I was about to say 3000-4000KV lol

Seems like the ideal choice for all round performance, great acceleration and more than enough top speed unless you take it to a huge carpark or beach ETC where the sheer amount of space can make the top speed seem a little low but you can always use a 3s for those occasions.

I’m using a 380 size can (with cooling fins to take it to 540size) 4300kv in mine. They run fine on all my cars. I don’t know how much torquier a 540 one is but mine is no longer made so next time I’ll be looking at a 540can.

I quite like the look of these...

Most decent esc’s will let you run max 4000kv motor on a 3s which gives options down the line.

I can’t comment on those exact motors. But I have an 8.5T 4100kv GoolRC sensored motor (full size can).

Seems very smooth and powerful. Although I don’t have much of a benchmark. I get 13 mins from a good 4500mah pack in a 2wd Buggy.

Thank you gentlemen.  Nobody can experience what he hasn't experienced yet.  In TC, I can count on 5 different experiences in an hour. I think that's great.

I've placed an order for a 3500KV set-up (though I suspect that cheap brushless might really be about 3100KV). That should be hot enough for my virgin brushless voyage. :D
