My fault, I think there’s a bit of cross pollination with the photos. 🤷‍♂️

I’m testing my idea in the Monster Truggy thread, I need to keep the original bumpers on this car.

Thanks, so you achieved the klingon bird of prey result with standard parts and just a few shims? Is there still some play from the u axles being too narrow?

Here’s the problem 15mm wheelbase difference between Sand Scorcher and the replica.

Here’s what I wanted, a 4WD Blitzer.

Here’s the solution. It’ll be in 4WD Kyosho style. With the extra length at the back.

Each to his own. Personally I think it is one of the ugliest, most misshapen Baja-inspired RCs, badly out of proportion, with few if any full-size  equivalents. But that's just me. If it pleases the OP, then it is the right direction for this project.

It’s a VW, what could possibly go wrong? Such a classic shape looks good any day of the week no matter what you do to them. If all else fails, then just give it a wild / funky paint job as a distraction 😁

That looks good, with the sticky outy rear balanced by a similarly sticky outy front end.

I'm picking this up again.

I've changed the motor and the shock mounts, so here's how it stands.

Some unused Absima shock fittings came in handy to move the shocks to the front of the suspension arm.

Now the body will fit. 😁

Some nice big aluminium spacers to replace the plastic and the front suspension is finished.

All I need now is some big fat anti-roll, stabilisation bar things. Man, they sure do look puuuurdy. 😂
