3 Speed- how good?

Quick question-

Is a 3-speed better than a Clod or TXT in mud?

i have had both......and if they where both stock..the three speed is better...it will push forward with power to all wheel's untill either you stop it......it gets stuck or the motor burns up or the gears strip......but the txt or clod can be made to be better in the mud.....just my opinion

In stock form usually yes as it has no diffs.

This is of course relative - the Clod and TXT run much larger diameter tyres so will overcome deeper mud and other obstacles much easier than a truck running 2.2" tyres as per the 3 speeds. You can't really compare their performance unless comparing like with like (at least with regard to tyre size). For its tyre size the 3spd is about the best you'll get in stock form with the under axle clearance being the main limiting factor in crossing deep mud. I can't think of that many other Tamiya trucks that run 2.2" tyres and have 4WD though? Twin Detonator?

Anyone got the gear ratios? I have never seen them listed anywhere.

How about 3-speed vs cc chassis car in mud or crawling?
