Hi I'm Mike and new to the forum,

I built a Tamiya knight hauler and installed an MFC-01, already had a spectrum DXE2.4 DSMX radio system 6 channel.  Tried everything to get it to work and there was always one thing that didn't work so I bought a Futaba T4Y WD-2.4G attack.  It arrived today missing the servos and E.S.C. and the receiver was alread bound.  Very disappointing.  I installed the receiver and everything works find except when you turn right.  It turns right and the blinker comes on but an alarm sounds.  Turning left is fine. Had to reverse the steering servo to turn right and left properly.  The only thing wrong is the alarm turning right, swtich the servo forward and the alarm is on the left.   The steering is backwards.

Can anyone out there help me?

Thanks,

Mikeee52

The 4YWD is the R/C gear which Tamiya recommend so it should be easy to set up and work correctly.

Do you have the manual for the MFC-01 ? If not, you can download it from the TamiyaUSA website.

Check and double check ALL the connections to the MFC-01

Try doing the setup again from scratch following the steps in the manual carefully.

If the steering is backwards, check the 4 switches next to the power switch on the transmitter - the MFC manual says they should all be at the NOR position.

Let us know how you get on.

Welcome.

The 4YWD only comes with servos if you buy that particular spec. The majority of them are radio/reciever only.

The servo switch isn't meant to be reversed, are you sure you dont have the servo or servo saver upside down? Is the servo centred correctly? As it should make any alarm or blinking sounds in both directions. Also have you done the mfc calibration with all the trims centred?

I’ve built 3 trucks now with the mfc03 and the first one took me about 15 goes at calibrating the mfc unit, you shouldn’t need to reverse the servos at all.the easiest way to get it working is to calibrate it out of the truck before the build,I found the Stella models tutorials on YouTube very helpful with this. But if the truck is built you could disconnect the rod off the steering servo as I found the resistance of the steering too heavy to complete the setup if the truck is on the floor/work surface etc

im just about to start my arocs tipper build and I’ll set the mfc up before it goes in the truck even tho it’s a bit of a pain to rig it all up first

as already mentioned make sure your servos are entered properly too

The alarm that sounds has nothing to do with calibrating the unit or reversing channels on the transmitter. There's a switch on the MFC unit, referred to in the instruction manual (page 6 - "Adjusting MFC 01 Unit") as "SW2", right above the set-up button (SW1) and the two adjustment pots (VR1 & VR2). This switch allows you to toggle between "Turn Signal 1" and "Turn Signal 2". I'm not sure which is which, but one of them has a really annoying alarm that sounds only when turning right, the other is the traditional blinker sound when turning in either direction. The key when switching between the two turn signal settings is that you need to power the unit down in order for the change to take effect. It took me the better part of yesterday to figure it out. Turns out it's right there in black and white in the manual.

The 'alarm that sounds' only works in one direction, and the: "Had to reverse the steering servo to turn left and right properly" indicates the steering isnt centred and the direction is incorrect, which means that functions like the manual shutdown wont work correctly.

Yes the sw1 has the sound he doesnt like, but he has underlying problems with the rest of the truck that affects operation.

Britaff, He has an MFC-01, There is one servo travel setup for calibration, as opposed to the MFC-03's 3.

Also to note the MFC-03's blinker (and horn) can be changed whilst running via the transmitter, negating the use of the sw1.
