I was doing some clearing out of my spare room and I found a Tamiya box all sealed in a vac pack bag.

It was my jun watanabe Hornet!! I pre-ordered it from a local shop that has long since closed down and got it on the day of release out and figured id leave it boxed as I already had a Hornet!

It has a certificate of Authenticity number that is under 100

Does anyone have any idea of what this is worth as I am now thinking it could fund my next TamiyaTruck as doing a quick search they seem to be getting rare   :D

Or should I just pack it away again and hold on to it.

There’s one for £585 on ebay at the moment BIN! ;)

Just because someone is asking that much doesn’t make it worth that value.

the traceable value of a kit is the average of  what more than 1 person is willing to pay.

They go for around £250 (upwards) nowadays for a numbered kit. There was only a few made for just the uk and Japan. The XB is more common so sells for less.

I paid £90 for my NIB one bought one xmas ago (I also have a shelfer bought new). I’ve not seen any go for £250 myself. Have seen them sell on ebay in the £1xx. As it gets rarer values may well increase. Every now and then you may get someone prepared to pay a significant premium.

I have to say, the little Jun Hornet is one of my favourite Tamiya’s, I personally wouldn’t pay much more than £100 for one but then I already have a couple. The XB ones are still available and some are reasonably priced still.
