Recently I was able to score a snap on van body which fits the Lunch Box. Does anyone have info on these?

I beleive I read a topic about this awhile ago. If I remember correctly, Tamiya made a very limited number of these lunchboxes for a Snap On Tool promotion. They were all factory built I think and given away to loyal customers or maybe Snap On Tool dealers.

anyways it is very rare

I have seen one in the flesh it's just a lexan body in the shape of an old van so I don't think they where made by Tamiya just produced for Snap on as one of there many "FREE" gifts (buy a tool box at £1500 and get one free type thing).

I have heard about these in the past and have seen them on ebay but always get outbid. this one doesn't have stickers so I was hoping for more info on it to see if I can replicate the stickers or maybe see if it's just a promotional stick I could get from snap on directly.

Tamiya did a similar colaboration with Parma on the daytona thunder and street devil

i know tamiya molded the stock lunchbox / pumpkin wheels in WHITE for this car. they are a nice alternative to the stock yellow or aftermarket wheels if you can find some.

Well i can give you a date of pre 90's because thats when i started buying from Snap On and i've never seen one but in saying that it may have been released in America only which seems to make sense to me as the bulk of them seem to be in America.

I wish i could help you out with some pics but the guy who had sold it sadly.

My suggestion would look for old Snap on vans though your search engine as i would have thought it would have been modeled off a real van. (van looks 80's ish to me)

My Snap On dealer says he still has a brand new one. Believe me....I tried to talk him out of it. I think I blew it though when he saw my eyes light up. I need to get a better poker face. Jim

Shodog, I had wanted one for a while and Got it off ebay a couple years back.

I then got bored with it and sold it on ebay as I was starting to accumulate too much according to the wife.

I still have some good pix of it saved on my HD, I Put them on my webspace for all to see.

It shows the full package as I believe it came originally, charger, radio and all. All were MRC products. It is rather old, has the Black MSC board instead of the newer tan, and the radio plugs were the old style with the pins sticking out rather than the new J-type.

Hope this helps,

-Anthony

is it just me, the body looks out of place on lunch box, it would look better on tl01 or m-chassis with good set of wheels[:D]

I would personally mount that sucker on a touring chassis and zip it around. Looks way too strange on a Lunch Box / Pumpkin chassis!

Your right it would look better on a M chassis.  They are about the same wheelbase as the M04L on my Alpine A110.

But really I like it better on the lunchbox becuase that is what it was intended for.
