Hello members of the best Tamiya forum,

Not sure if everybody starts an introduction thread, I couldn't find a global one and the search function showed some individual results.

Growing up in the eighties makes you a long life sucker for videogames, Legoos, Nikes and Tamiya RC.
I have been reading here for some time, and have seen some amazing stuff.

As a kid I had some RC toys and did some kit building (mostly Revell). now being an old kid, getting interested in RC again and am reading up to start building some kits.
I want to start with painting a Sand Scorcher RERE shell, just to get a feel for the arts involved in building an RC car and see where it goes from there.
The shell is acquired and automotive paint is ordered, now need to find the time in my busy daily schedule.

Best regards,
Bakelite

Welcome to Tamiyaclub bud šŸ‘ where about in the world are you based?Ā

We have members from all over the globe that all interact and have some great advice to give and also advice to learn from.Ā

Hopefully we will see some pics of the progress of your scorcher .

Thanks, James.

Thanks James,

I am European. I was thinking of making a rusty looking shell with the salt technique. Lets see how it goes :). I think its a good way to learn how to handle paint from a can. It doesn't have to be shiny, so I am not to much worried about orange peel, just have to make sure to not get paint runners in the paint.

For me it is also an experiment how to work with paint and ABS plastic. The theory I understand, now let“s apply theory to practice (and actually acquire skills along the way).

I will document when I start working on the parts.

Regards,
Bakelite

Welcome, I'm a former lurker and now member.Ā  The late 80s was RC, BMX bikes, puberty and the golden age of my life to be honest.Ā Ā  I wish I could take a time machine back.

I am still kicking myself for taking my $100 bank certificate and blowing it on a Kyosho Ultima.Ā  What a piece of crap.Ā  Technically it was a good car, but I hated the sound of its gearbox, didn't like the open chassis design, and sold it almost right after getting it and buying a Hornet which I loved like mad.

In fact I'm going to recreate the body I had on it soon.Ā  I put a Lexan Grasshopper shell on it, painted it pink with paint splatter in true 80s form.Ā

I'm in the process of finishing off a BRAT and trying to find vintage Futaba gear.

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height. Ā Is this what you had in mind?
