Engine under glass?

Anybody know of an aftermarket option for an engine that I can put under the engine cover of a Ferrari 458 shell? Tamiya gives you a nice clear rear cover but not a proper V8 to view.

It might be blasphemous for a Ferrari, but Demi Works makes several polycarbonate engine bays you can adapt to other RC cars - their website is here. They are moulded one-piece affairs.

I used one to some effect on my Lancia 037 Rally build:

I say "blasphemous" because their only V8 option is a Chevrolet LS engine, but with some modification you can dress that up like a Ferrari V8. There is not much to beat the convenience, though.

Otherwise, I have been advised to try Shapeways and Thingiverse for 3D-print options.

I adapted a 4-cylinder engine from them to use in my Lancia, and did so by cutting out most of the hoses and accessories I did not need while painting the rest, and placing it on the rear half of the interior set I was using. Your options for attachment might be different, depending on what other accessories you will be using for your shell. Good luck!

LOL, yes it is blasphemous!!!  Chevy engine in a Ferrari!!  But it looks real good.  Even compared to the real thing.  Nicely done!

Edit: The most distinctive feature I can see from the Ferrari 458 engine is the air box:

Once you model that, it should be easy to build up the rest of it to get a decent-looking engine under there, including with the cockpit set available on the Hobbyking website.
