I just got my Boomerang up and running and am already looking at modifying some aspects of it (particularly to flimsy battery door). Its my first Boomer and a bit of a mixed bag of ups and downs. The steering is one such item. It works far better than the Hot Shot style from a bump steer perspective. On the other hand it has already gotten muck jammed in it. In searching, others in the past have mentioned that the steering system is prone to this. So was my first time out a fluke or do I regularly need to clean it out and if so, how often?

This won't help but I have never had that problem, either on my original back in the day or my rere now. I run it either at a clay track or in the backyard and am often having to clean grass or dirt out of it, but never the steering.

Maybe it was just a fluke on my part. Its spring here (barely) and the ground's muddy and full of downed sticks from the trees.

Saito2's question got me looking at the instruction.  I thought the steering mechanism was same as Hoshot.  But he sliding bar is different, and it reminds me of Bigwig's rack and pinion.  Maybe Bigwig's rubber boot was a way to fix what Saito is experiencing?

I must get my hands on Boomerang someday.  Thanks to Jonathon, it has been on my "to buy one day list."  Come to think of it, it's the missing link between my Hotshot and Bigwig.  My wife will laugh at the "missing link" argument.  At least, I know TC members will understand.

Boomerang steering rack works fine, no design flaws need fixing... just don't grease it but use drylube. If you don't have liquid drylube rub a candle.
