If you have the hard plastic Scorcher body you can strip the paint off really well with brake fluid (Allwoods),leave it to soak for a while and most of the paint should just dissolve any that doesn't you can use a toothbrush and scrub it away!!

BUT be careful using brake fluid as it's nasty to skin so wear some gloves(Allwoods again!!) and if you plan on vigourous scrubbing wear eye-protection!!

Fancy dissing Access!![:0][;)][;)]

Yes, the ballbearings are a superb upgrade for the SS gearbox.. Mine also had very wobbly gears and was hard to turn for the motor in the beginning, for after a complete stripdown, re-lubricating, and of course, fitting of ballbearings throughout, it runs sweet and quiet with everything attached, incl. the wheels, on a single 1,5 volt dry cell... Nice...

Cheers.. Michael

for a SRB you will need six 5X11mm for the gear box. Either two or four 5X11mm depending on which rear swing arms you have. And 4 5X11mm for the front wheels.

I'm having problems putting ball bearings in my SS runner's gearbox. They fit very loosely in the gearbox & I don't think they should be. I was thinking of using some threadlock, but they may even be too loose for that to work. Should I go ahead & try that first or does anyone have a better solution? The bearings are the proper 5x11mm, the gear shafts are fine, & buying another gearbox is not an option for me.

Thanks,

Neil

Thead lock would work okay but it would be hard to remove them later. why not try a piece of packing taped around the bearing to shim it enough so it fits tight

A layer of tape was just right! A little snug, which is how I think they should be. In hindsight, I should have wrapped the tape around the bearings & cut off the excess instead of cutting the tape into thin strips & wrapping those around the bearings. Thanks for the idea!
