After a hard run with my monsterised DT-03 I have stripped the teeth on the servo.

I need a good value metal teethed servo. I have bought servos for a while so looking for links and recommendations.

What you like folks?

I love the Savox SC-1251mg, really fast, responsive and powerful. Perhaps not cheapest overall however, being priced at mid-to-late £30s. Also now comes in a Black Edition, with shorter cables which is a boon, although pricier than standard model. Runs awesome in my DT03.

I like the Savox 1251MG too, one has lasted a season in a race buggy and still going strong.  If budget permits the Savox 1258TG is even better but they are pricey.  One of the benefits of Savox is that you can buy the gears to rebuild them if you strip them, so they are a good long term option.

I have these in my onroad racers which are Trackstar's version of the 1251MG.  They are cheaper but I don't believe the claims for speed, they seem slower than the 1251 depsite having marginally better claimed figures.  So far so good though, especially for the price.

I'm assuming that since I have a basic S3003 in a Monster Beetle then you don't need crazy high torque figures for the DT03's monster wheels

The good thing about the Savox servos is that you can rebuild them.  The thing to be careful with them is that some of them draw a lot of amps.  If your ESC can't provide the demand, you'll get glitching and/or behavior where it seems like the car loses connection with the transmitter.

Nobbi,

For a basher these look like decent choices that won't cost you an arm and a leg:

I have the SW0231MG in a few of my SCT bashers and they are tank servos!  They take a real beating and have the advantage of weatherproofing.  If you didn't want to spend quite that much then I think the Alturn is the best 2nd choice.  It has 80% of the torque but is 30% faster than the 231MG.  Of course, you pay a bit more for the weatherproofing.  Neither is a race servo but both will serve in your monster DT-03 quite well I think.

Thanks all I will look in to all the options.

I have run trackstar ones will no issues for years but I think the way the DT steering is set up and the big wheels has been to much for this one. It is the plastic outer splines that have gone, the rest seems ok but struggled to turn the wheels while stationary.

If it's for bashing, I've found the Tower pro MG996R to be a great choice and only £5 from Hobbyking. It's not the fastest but quick enough and the torque is decent, it will turn the wheels in all my MTS while stationary on carpet. It has a metal spline and bearings so should be up to your requirements.

The older mg995 was awful in my experience because it wouldn't centre accurately so i was hesitant to try it but the 996r has turned out to be much better. There's lot of fakes/clones out there but the ones from Hobbyking have been spot on in my experience and just as cheap as a lot of the fake ones on ebay.

Thanks. I think I have some tower pro ones in other models now I look at one. Hard to see what is fitted when they in the models though.
