Alright good people's,

Like many others here I had a few Tamiyas back in the 80's.

My first and only new build was a hornet. I then bought a monster beetle, wild one and a 959. As the way with these things I got older and they all went to the boot fair of doom.

FF 30 years and I got out of bed and thought that was fun and bought a lunchbox. Closely followed by 3 more. Don't know how long the nostalgia trip will last but he ho!

Some pics of my handiwork, not the best in the world but fun anyway :)

Still got some finishing to do and then need to decide what's next, leaning towards a boomerang or wild willy.

Regards

Welcome back, I did the same thing back in early 2000 when I set out to find the one I always wanted, a bruiser.  Now I have about 45 different cars, good luck with the madness.

It's a slippery slope you've rejoined, it'll start with those you had (Hornet), then those you wanted but couldn't afford (Supershot, Cat XLS, Avante) , then those that reflect the progress of development (TT-02R, Dual Ridge, Neo Fighter) then those novalty fun ones (Dancing Rider, Lunch Box) then it'll be "Oooo I've never had a full on Race Buggy (Cat K2) then it'll be.....

Welcome back, it's addictive and ace 😎👍

Thanks. The 190 Evolution is actually a Tt02r underneath!  definitely a slippery slope as I've actually ordered a set of wheels (scorpion wheels) and adaptors without actually having a car (or any idea what car) to put them on.

I don't think I'll get to mass collection level and the wife is likely to divorce me first (although she said she would kill me if I bought another "real car", so this is a bit easier to keep under the wife killahusband radar!!!)

If only there was some way to use the same body (or wheels) over various different chassis.... 🤔 😉

Restraint in the 80's was so much easier as you had to physically leave the house, make a trip to the LHS, generally have the cash to hand to purchase something. But now with credit, buy now pay laters and that 'Buy Now' button every where you look its all tooooooooooooooo easy ;). Enjoy it mate.

That's me minus the wild one and like re-bugged says it's far to easy now to end up with a sizeable collection!,  just enjoy what ever you get or which ever decision you go with😉

Not to mention the fact that everything cost the same as it does now but 30 years of inflation (and most of us having grown up a bit, at least in terms of having proper jobs, not the playing with toy cars bit) has made things more affordable, back then the biggest problem was getting $2 a week pocket money which would be many years before it made a Boomerang!

Welcome to the forum, once the nostalgia is done you can buy the modern kits and see how far things have come. Don't worry about a big collection, there will always be someone on here with a bigger one so you will always have room for more
