HighPlainsDrifter 1 Posted August 27, 2018 Do other model axles sets (tamiya) fit in the Wild One? The wild willy ones looks similar in an auction and cost much less.... Thanks
Juggular 4964 Posted August 27, 2018 Not readily. It may require a lot of custom fitting. I assume Wild Willy 2 gearbox because it's readily available. Wild Willy 1 has a trailing arm design, so it might be more difficult to fit. WW2 also has a long line of gears that are quite different from relatively compact Wild One gearbox. But some interesting adaptations are made by bold people.
KEV THE REV 2319 Posted August 28, 2018 I've always used the vintage hex design . I'm building a hybrid re-re / vintage W/O / FAV right now and I'm using the vintage rear hex parts . These used to be a problem with excessive wear , but Tamiya have modified the latest re-re rear arms by adding in arm stiffeners and a bigger arm stop moulded into the arm to prevent the arm from dropping too far and causing the old 'clicking' noise which was the hex binding in the socket and causing the premature wear . I used to drop in a spacer inside under the rear damper piston to prevent the arm from dropping too far , but now you don't have to . The new W/O rear axles seem to drop out a lot so I've read by other W/O owners , so I haven't bothered with that route .
