From my expirience by now, on 2s, trackstar is a brand you will have a pro feeling with, about 130$Us with battery, esc, motor and program card.

But you need to solder the wires, I am 80% sure the skyrc is a plug and play and supports 3s lipo for the extra power for speedruns or similar. With battery, esc, motor and program card about 90$us.

I like the cheetah it seems simple, but I like and am used to trackstar and would pay extra for it, even thought no 3s.

For battery, I have a Turningy nanotech with 65C/130C peak. 6600mah.

plenty of run time, high C rating would be the amount of current it can draw to the esc.

I have the trackstar turbo 80A esc, so you need a battery of minimum 80A current. For example, 65C x 6600mAh like my tuningy is 429A, plenty of A’s.

but a 20C x 3800mah is 79.000 or 79A, not enough and the esc would eventually die over time.

the higher the C the better.

Welcome to Tamiya Club.

I've been thinking I need something along that line myself.  Touring cars would be between F-1 and rally cars.

Something like M5, M6, M7 chassis?  I had a chance to bid on M5 NSU Jagermeister, but I missed that chance.   And there is XV-1 that's a rally car that I'm eyeing on.  A few come to my mind, but of course there are other cars too.

[Below is NSU Jagermeister -- M5 on-road chassis has a mid-ship motor (front leaning) ]

Loooooooooooove the NSU. And it's no. 71, too. My old slot car racing number!

@Fabia130vRS I've done some digging around for skyrc, trackstar, and turnigy.

The following combos appealed to me because they seem to meet my requirements:

http://www.rcmart.com/cheetah-sensored-with-4000kv85t2p-motor-combo-p-37104.html?cPath=1560_1301#Review

https://hobbyking.com/en_us/turnigy-trackstar-waterproof-1-10-brushless-power-system-3520kv-80a.html?___store=en_us

https://www.toemen.nl/hobbywing-xerun-xr10-justock-esc-xerun-justock-135t-motor-combo-p-36365.html

Would either of these be a nice starter combo you'd think?

As we're on the topic of motors and ESCs anyways, would you advise me to go for Deans or XT-60 connectors? My other cars have either traxxas or tamiya connectors but I have a charger with several different charge leads so that shouldn't be a problem at all.

Cheers again,

Bel*.

I would go for the cheetah since it is sensored.

I am using and I think it is the best, a T connector.

@Fabia130vRS Cheetah ordered yesterday. Will take its time to get here I suppose. Chassis kit arriving later today. Now still to get a servo and battery and last a body. Still not sure what connectors I'll be going for. I actually thought XT-60/90 was T-connector but will have to look into that some more I suppose :)

Maybe I am wrong, but a Deans or T plug.

https://www.sparkfun.com/products/11864

I think good choice. I am looking at a cheetah 21.5T selling here local for 55$.

with the program card being included it is cheap and handles 3s if in need for extra power.

especially the 8.5T. Make sure to check for heating and overgearing, also the battery should be at a good C rating. Above 30C is good enough.
