i am swapping out the old and ailing motor in the ww1, but with the pressed on pinion i am afraid it will be trash when and if i do get it off the old motor. any suggestions? is the pinion available anywhere as a replacement?

Do you know how much use the car has actually had? You should quite easily get the pinion off to re-use it & it shouldn't be too worn out. The WW was designed to use Mabuchi motors so if you try to use newer type 540s, be prepared to do a little bit of work getting it in. The old brass pinions don't wear too much to be a problem however.

not sure whats its seen in its day, but the motor is just sloppy and weak. newer mabuchi motors fit in it fine, just doesnt have the nice ring on the endbell for a super tight fit. i tried prying it off, even soaked it in wd40, and its still stuck on there.

I put a newer motor in my WW & to take up the gap due to the smaller end bell I pushed an o-ring on it. It fit perfect. I managed to get the pinion off pushing it off with a screw driver with the old motor in a vice. It came off really easy for me for some reason [8)]

If you don't find one, you can use one 15 cogs pinion from rough rider, sand scorcher or superchamp (more available)[;)]
