This might seem excessive...

I was wondering if anybody else does this.

I do this all the time. Cause it'd be a shame to put scratches on a beautifully painted hard shell or a sticker on a Lexan body.

I don't file but I bend the tip that goes into the Bodypost a bit upward with a plier.

And the same with the eyelet but that only on straight clips.

Thanks for appealing to both the OCD and the perfectionist parts of my brain...

Good thing the procrastinator in me will probably kick in first...

Never thought to do that.

Agreed 1000%. @Juggular Do you know how many body clips I now need to file? And, I don't even have enough clips as it is.

Yep, I figure crows love to pick these up and put them in their nests.

Otherwise, I can't lose one every other time I take out a car.  I got a bag of 100 for about $3.  (maybe I should've gotten black clips)  I was going to sit down and file all 100 clips... but I figure that I'll just file the clips I'm actually using.

Good thing, because this time, the entire bag disappeared.  Either we have an invisible crow infestation, or the next time I find that bag, I'll split 4 each and put them in each and every drawer in the house.  My wife will probably say, "stop putting these things with forks!"   ... maybe I shouldn't.  I don't want to chew on these and lose teeth...

Great idea, I’ve damaged a few shells like this :(

There must be a better way though to hold the shell on ... maybe using fine cable ties through the bodypost hole? (but they would need cutting off each time so become disposable and you’d need to remember to have scissors on you each time you go out with that RC)

Genius @Juggular. Never thought of that. Great tip B) Thanks.

I've been contemplating a thin bit of plastic, card or something with a slot in it to put between the clip & body work while attaching clips but never got round to it.

I use drilled bits of clear lexan in between the body and bodyclips. And still file them alright. The thought of scratching a body I've worked so much to finish is disturbing.

When we used to race 1/10 buggies with saloon shells on tarmac, we used to use little black plastic washers between the clips and the bodywork. Since my shells were always black, this used to work quite well. When the shells started getting scratched from underneath due to rubbing on the mounts, I cut up an old fake-leather school bag and made soft material washers for the plastic to sit on. I just found one of the mounts in the old pit box, with fake leather washers still in place.
