[8)]G'Day guys,

I'm almost finished rebuilding/restoring my 959 and have a few question's if its ok[:I]

Can I use a different engine to the Technigold?

Where can I find specs on allthe different engines out there now-a-days.

How does the technigold compare to say something like the 11T super modified?

or even the Super stock RZ and TZ?

Huge thanks Wazza[:D]

Yes,you can use any motor that would fit in there. I'm guessing you are building a runner? I'm pretty sure there is a thread here with a bunch of links to motor specs? Not sure where it is but I'm hoping someone will read this and add it? I would put in anything that you already own.

Thanks mate, one will be a runner, the other a shelf queen (I think that's what you call it - n:forum guidelines).

Thanks Wazza[:D]

Hope you've got all 'excess' plastic bits from 959 kit if you're

putting on something different to the Mabuchi 540SD/VZ motors.

The motor is friction-fit -not screwed in- and to use anything

different there's an alternative carrier (round ring thing)

for the endbell to sit correctly.

Ah ok.

Is that because motors have advanced somewhat since the technigold? With something else creating an increase in wear & tear and possible gear damage etc?

How many turn is the technigold? - I have been searching for specs with little luck.

hi, you can use the technigold which is 21 turns, technipower which has 23 turns or the technituned which has 27 turns. these are all the same shape on the endbell, for a runner though i recomend the technigold, have fun [:)]

The way the white plastic piece fits the endbell and how that piece fits into the chassis makes it hard to use any motor other than a Technigold or Tehnituned motor

[^]Thanks guys...this is very helpful to a novice like me!

and so begins the hunt for a new, well priced technigold [:o)]

I think, with little amount of work, you can put every new motor in the 959 chassis.

If you drill a second hole on the other side to put both screws in the motor and in the rear you have to wrap tape or put o-rings around the endbell to match the white ring.

I had a 16x2 in my Porsche. I think you can go down to 15 but not more. The drivetrain will suffer.

With such a motor the car must have the differential installed from th Celica.
