Yep, I must have jinxed it.  This is what I got an unclear message from the ebay seller.  This seller isn't "Suspicious" YET...

I am SOOOO SORRY but I just realized I made a mistake. I accidentally sent you the wrong car. I called the PO and they have already sent it out. Would you please request a return when you receive the car so I can issue a refund and send you your correct car? For the hassle, I will ship the correct one for free when I receive the incorrect one back. Again, I am so sorry for this.

I guess "ship the correct one for free" probably means "no shipping fee," not "entire car for free."  But if I return it and get a refund, why would anybody send me the right car?  I wonder if the seller just doesn't want to sell and get me to pay for the return?  Or am I overly suspicious?  Mistakes do happen, so this could be entirely innocent...

I figure TC as a whole has 1000 times more experience than me, so what are your thoughts?

Oh no!

I’ve never had this before but this statement

Doesn’t sit well with me. Keep the photos of the listing so that you can compare with whatever comes through the post.

If you did return it and then they the ‘proper’ one they can hardly expect you to pay for their mistake, surely?!!

I’d be wanting a partial refund to cover postage of sending the first one back - assuming the second one arrives - as it was THEIR error.

Also, why would he not ship the correct one for free??? Hes not doing you a favour by not charging you postage as its his **** up and you wouldnt normaly expect that to cost you extra. Sounds scammy to me.

I would tell him Bob Holness is your father in law, and he is well connected in the underworld and could you just send round the boys to make the exchange.

He must first send a picture of himself holding the car, with a fish on his head for identification purposes.

Also tell him that you are a proud supporter of the church of Tamiya and the Tamiya gods will give him bad moojoo for ever if the deal goes bad.

Where is he located?,

Edit2add: Its possible that nothing will turn up and he is trying to scam you twice, just wait,  see what turns up, if it's wrong you would be better to report it as not described and let Ebay sort it out.

When you receive the incorrect car, open a dispute through eBay immediately. When you go to add details of the dispute, tell them what the seller said to you. If the message from the seller is in your eBay inbox, do not delete the messages. This way, you'll be protected through eBay and I think (not entirely sure) you should get a shipping label to print out to send it back. It also might be worth your while to request a refund instead of a replacement. That way, once you enter the tracking info showing that the car was sent back, eBay can initiate the refund rather than you trusting the seller to send the right item. I'd also refuse to pay for return shipping without reimbursement first.

If you receive the car and send it back without a dispute, what proof do you have in eBay? The seller has already entered the tracking info which shows to have been shipped and delivered whether it be the wrong or right car. There's no guarantee that the seller will send you the correct car without a dispute and you'll have no proof of any of it. As soon as you take delivery of the wrong car, get eBay involved.

Was this a new car or used car? If new, can you say who the seller is? Don't know if that's against the rules here.

What car did you buy and what wrong one has he shipped out? Crucial questions! ;)

Yeah wait for a wrong car to turn up first then let Ebay sort it properly by filing a claim etc.

Tell him to send the correct car and when you receive it return the wrong car.

But he must refund the postage costs first,  I would only send tracked and signed for.

It might be a genuine mistake, put the wrong label on the wrong box or something, Keep us posted.

You shouldn't be penalised for it though, not your fault.

Here's hoping you ordered a hornet and get a hi-lux.

I won this with M06 chassis.  I was going to buy NSU Prinz TT body for it too.  Good thing, I didn't order the extra body, yet.

If I get the wrong one, I'll start a dispute.  He might have sent me a postcard instead.

(A Chinese seller did that once. "Hi friend, this is just a gift, the actual item might take 45 days, please wait."  I DID NOT wait. I wasn't born yesterday)

I was thrilled to see Jug went for a onroad car. And its RWD. But this situation on the end is disappointing, I always thing when getting scammed scam back. Mostly through disappointment of long waiting time and actually money loss, I tend to act angry at the seller to get a refund for a item not showing up in the mail. Sometimes I takes 3month to get something, such time is sure not acceptable. So mostly after 1,5 months I open a dispute because I run out of patience.

Maybe he really made a mistake, but what is the background? Is he a company seller, private? How does the add look like? Was he aware of what he is selling, or did somebody else send the wring item while he was away? Studying abrous for example?

But if it is scam, I would wait for the first car maximum a month, and open a dispute since nothing may show up on the end... opening a dispute before he delets the listing may be useful to get a refund. Usually I get stuff in two weeks or maximum a month. When I hear on the news that Japan is facing heavy weather I expect longer waiting time in general from sellers like banzai hobby, itembay4you or similar.

went off topic, if it shows up, nice buy, really nice body it is this Alfa.

never had a M06 but it looks amazing hoped up to a M06 Pro.

I have that Alfa M06. When you actually get it, you're going to love it. Congrats and good luck with the transaction.

There's an M06 Pro? Is that anything like the M05 Pro with lipo battery slot, droop screws, and such?

I would say Yes according to this video. Obviously a hardcase fits.

PRO basically means hopped up.

the M05 Pro and M05 Pro V2 is bot the same. Right?

Thanks, and no. The Pro V2 has a different motor location and ability to hold square batteries. I don't think the regular Pro has that.

Here is another development;

Sorry again!! I was able to get on USPS website and intercept the package. It is being returned to me. I am going to go ahead and ship your correct item out in the morning. Again, I am SO SORRY for the mistake.

I did not respond to the first email.  Nor to this one.  I checked, USPS does allow "Interception" at the destination.  I hope he gives me the new tracking number.

I wonder if this person is a TC member?  Seeing all the commotion, he thought, "OMG, I'll be as good as dead in TC if he reveals my ebay ID!!"  And he decided to send the correct one...  That's right, I've got TC guys backing me up!!   lol...  This person has only 99% rating with 150 items sold.  One more negative would put him to 98% zone, and that's not very good for business anyway.

I'll wait and see if NIB M-06 I won turns up or not.

I hope it does, because I want to buy this shell with 4 ghost posts!

I would reply back to his recent message and request the new tracking information, and stay persistent about it every day until you get it so that he doesn't slack on shipping it out.

Occasionally, I find that there was something I missed out completely.

This French dude made a catalog of almost all 600+ electric cars.

Here's a TC member @Doomed's ride.  I think it's a great decoration piece even if it didn't run.  You'd think this body would be mated with many different chassis.  But maybe this kind of styling isn't hot in the Japanese domestic market?

Street2sm_zpsb829af71.jpg

Oh, the NSU Prinz TT does look like a FWD car, doesn't it?  But actually, it's got the engine sitting in the trunk.  It's weird and cool, I think.  Tamiya's body has the lid of the trunk lifted up too.  But it's on M05 FWD chassis for some reason.  If they lift up the trunk to indicate that a hot engine is breathing fire in there, why not use a RWD chassis?   It bothers me.  And I've never even known NSU Prinz existed!  It's like buying an RC Harrier jump jet, and instead of a duct fan inside, it's got a big propeller on the nose!  It's not a Spitfire!

lol... wow, that was refreshing.

Japanese with American cars... so foreign... I guess that's the point.  It is foreign to them.  Why are they selling rusted old cans of transmission fluids?  Because it's got some English on it?  (I kept a cardboard box for a body, just because it's got some Japanese on it)

I want that orange Jimny with a half-baked-clone trailer!

This pickup could carry a bicycle, but it would have to be a folding bicycle.

Nice choice. I have an M04 version to build. Putting it off until I get some painting practice in. Such a great looking car.

Hope it comes through OK.

Speaking of Tamiya's unusual occasional Releases........

WHEN did they sneak THIS out!!!???:o:ph34r::o😱😱😱

Street Devil and the Daytona Thunder both came with Parma bodies not Tamiya bodies IIRC. I had a Daytona Thunder years ago NIB and the body looked like it was going to be a nightmare to do.

I forgot to ask for the tracking number until late afternoon.  Just as I was starting to type, "So, did you have a chance to...," I got the chime on my phone: "Here is the updated tracking number. This will be in the mail in a few minutes."

He attached a photo of the label.  So I changed the message to:  "I was going to ask for the tracking number. You beat me to it.  All that was a bit confusing. But no harm done, if everything is in order when I get it."

After an hour or so:  "It’s on its way. I am so sorry. I’ve shipped lots of stuff and this was the first time that happened. Glad it’s taken care of."

Everything was through e-bay messages, including the photo of the new tracking number.  I just hope there are no missing parts or anything.

If it gets here fine, I'll get a double dose of the "IKEA Effect."  I'd love M06 no matter what, because it feels like I've been running around to sort things out myself...  Just like this desk. IKEA forgot to put oil on it. It would've been such a hassle to carry the 50 pound thing back to the store.  So I put a couple layers of oil-based floor finish.  Thanks to that IKEA effect, I like it better than the regular oiled desk!  It came out brighter too.  Things have a way of working out.  I hope M06 does too.

Nope, I am the one who's stuck in the 80's, the date is correct!  (I'm listening to 'Manic Monday' now!)  I don't drink beer anymore either.  Too many carb calories!  (I'm preaching to the preacher himself, lol... )  But the walls are still pink.

Tree shades make that room way too blue and gloomy.  I'm allergic to pink.  But I figured 'barely-noticeable-pink' would counter the blue.  Like magic, 10 out 10 people say the walls are white during the daytime.  In the evening, the bluish "pure white" bulbs make them totally white also.  Only the sunset makes them doubly pink.  It's weird, but I like how they become pink only during sunsets.  But I can't handle a pink dragon!
