It's been a while since I updated this thread. Ran both cars yesterday just outside our street. I decided to swithc the steering sets of both car. 3Rcing goes to the RR while the Tamiya set goes to the Pro-R. There isn't difference in the performance of the steering but the Tamiya is lighter because it uses cf for the plate rack. I also had to switch the turnbuckles because 3Racing uses longer ones due to centered ball studs.

I also replaced the oil of the Pro-R's gear diff and cleaned all the gears and re-greased them. It's been a while since I last did that.

Update:

Pro-R got aluminum spring retainers.

RR got new SPT servo (changed from JX servo) to match the blue and this one is faster too. It also got TRF dampers with YR springs (perfect match for rally set up).

What length are your rear dampers on the road-spec?

I just built mine up but the 50mm dampers are too short, lifting the rear arms upwards. 55mm seems too long, means that there is always some pre-load on them, working against the droop stops. I used Yeah Racing shock gear but fitted with Tamiya seals and ball connectors, managed to extend them to about 52mm but still too short!

55mm is correct. Have you got the arms flipped for the widest mounting holes option? You need to use use tje hole nearest the wheel for the arm and, start with it laid right over on the innermost shock tower hole

I know they are not as nice as the ff01 and ff03 but they are not that horrible.

It's hard to picture any FF Chassis without the Motor acting as the Front Bumper!! 😂😄

But it sure is NICE! I'd add one to my collection if I could.

Cheers thanks. I have the front set up to 50mm and this seems to work though, the manual suggests to build all 4 to identical specs?

I'm so baffled. This is the problem with building from parts and using aftermarket dampers I guess!

I am using 55mm all round but i can see why 50 would work on the front with certain pushrod and ride heights.

Mr RR got some new upgrades...

The Sakura D3 universal shaft is a perfect fit in the FF-03.

IitJZRch.jpg

Stock upper, universal lower

3LNnv6kh.jpg

Fits perfectly without any adjustments

Pl319CQh.jpg

Organized and wrapped the ESC-motor wires with braided sleeves. Also upgraded the upper suspension ball caps to open face adjusters.

I'm really trying not to BORE you with superlatives!!.... 😊💯

You've shown what's ABSOLUTELY possible from these already fine Cars. I'm partial to the FF-03. Most People know this by now... Besides the bespoke Blue Alumininium Tamiya bling... Is there ANY TAMIYA left on her?? Could you build another Car from the bog standard Parts?? 😜😊

I'm just so impressed.

Oh there are many genuine Tamiya parts on and in it. Internals are all Tamiya. Outside are still majority Tamiya with a touch of YR, 3R and my own fabrication of carbon fiber custom parts.

I have so much spares (used and new-sealed) and 3 extra chassis. I could actually still build two full kits with a little hop ups but I'll leave those as spares for "just in case" you know. Haha!

I SWEAR if I had the money.... I'd buy a Car worth of bits off of you! 😊 It's pretty well known how bad I want one. It's almost unhealthy, if you ask my Wife!! - I am looking forward to getting one next year, what my fortunes will FINALLY change - for Good!!! 😊😊

FIRST thing I'm getting is a FF-03, then M07, M08, then M1-4, to have a full collection of Minis. THEN I start Shopping!!! 😁
