So got this off eBay. It was sold to me as a vintage Frog but looks like a converted Subaru Brat.Has the Brat steering, black resistor plate, wheels/tires, and has no differential. Looks like back in the day they purchased a Frog body set, wheel/tires, antenna's, 540 motor, and oil shocks. Looks to be in good shape and just needs some cleaning.

Got the chassis all cleaned and inspected. This is going to be a runner for the Fastest Tamiya thread here on the forum Got rid of the Airtronics stuff and put in a Futaba servo. Going to start painting the body now. I ordered new decals from MCI today (blackfriday discount) MCI is GREAT! And now going to order a new motor and ESC tonight.

Got my electronics in and the body painted. Just waiting for all the Decals I ordered on Black Friday from MCI to show up. It's funny watching the old Brat tires balloon up under the brushless power.

Nice project.  I wouldn't hold your breath waiting for the decals to show up.  I ordered a bunch on 11/12/18 and still not here yet.  Apparently there was a postal strike in Canada and everything is delayed 3-4 weeks (heard this from Nathaneal @MCI).  I love his decals and have been using them for years, but they might as well be coming from China at this point.

You can prevent that by sticking a strip of duct tape on the inside, and using foam inserts...

That would explain why I haven't got them yet, normally he is very quick with shipping. Oh well I don;t care if they arrive late I love the product he puts out.

Nice trick I will try that if the ballooning messes up the handling much.

Me too, I've bought tons from him and recommend MCI to everyone.  Was just letting you know that they will be delayed and it's out of his control at this point.

Yep.  Been waiting on my new Falcon body from Team Bluegroove for a while now.

I guess 30+ year old lexan gets brittle when it's 30 degrees outside. But I did get 48mph on the test run haha!

Yeah, yeah. You know the rules, video proof or it didn't happen, this is 2018. :D

Was gonna say now try 3s :P but I see you all ready are, and now I believe your top speed. :P But you still have to prove it.

Dang, that's a shame you lost your Vintage body, they are almost impossible to find in NIB condition...

Terry

It was not NIB condition, already cut but not bad. The outside was scuffed up the black paint really shows that. Nobody would have paid more for it than a re-re that's why I painted and ran it. I did just finish fixing it, pics to follow.

Yep! I fixed the body so if weather holds out tomorrow I will get a official video entry in the speed thread.

Got the body fixed does not look that bad. Held it together on the outside with hatch tape from my boats, then hit the cracks with CA on the inside, then put a coat of 15min epoxy on the inside. Just need some decals to cover some of the cracks haha!
