Do you have forgotten projects?

I was mowing the lawn at 0C (32F) temperature.  It snowed before all the leaves were fallen.

I missed the leaf-pickup date, so I decided to mow them down. (not in the snow, because that would be challenging...)

ZsoAy7O.jpg

While I was charging up the lawnmower (it takes 30 minutes), I went into my man-cave to look for mini 4WD Wild Willy & Unimog.  I only found their boxes, but I know I have them.

PJkuQf3.jpg

I opened up the Juggernaut box, and unexpectedly found an LED lighting kit!

Since I had completely forgotten about it, it was like a gift from my past-self to current-self.  Good job, Mr. past-Juggular!  (sadly, I can never thank him directly because he's forever in the past!  Unless one of us is a time traveler...)

vgMICb7.jpg

The Jugg box also had an Alpine A110 static kit I bought 9 years ago (which I also forgot about).  I was as happy as a kid in a candy store!  (Except, this particular candy is 9 years old...)  I have been eyeing on a Lexan A110 shell for M06.  I saved the parts to stretch the M06 chassis, but it is a bit of a pain to do that, so I don't know if I want to buy the Lexan body... but hey, I have a static kit to build!

In another box that contained a fat purple robot model, I found a vintage Hotshot body! (I bought them way before the re-release)  I also found 2 sprues for Hornet axle holders (to convert the Grasshopper into the Hornet).

EB9eaX4.jpg

And another box for the mini 4WD Midnight Pumpkin!  I thought I had 2 minis, but I had 3.

Finally, in the Subaru Brat box, I found all 3!

But time has not been kind to the tires... I left them out in the air for 10 years.  Indoor ozone could do this, I think.

I should have kept them in the box.

It made me wonder what else I'm forgetting... This is the reason why I try to shrink the number of projects (and utterly not-succeeding...).

It was strange how I didn't try to restore the Hotshot shell. I didn't try to find LED lights for the Juggernaut.  Apparently, once I had all the parts, I forgot about these projects.  I wish I could ask what projects I forgot.  But that would be silly.  Only Mr. Juggular-in-the-past knows that.  Remembering is the only way to know what he wanted to do, but the problem is; I forgot.

Am I the only one who's forgetting his projects left and right?  (...if you forgot already, you wouldn't know, would you?  Maybe the title should be "projects you have accidentally re-discovered?")

I cleaned out the man cave the other week, found various parts trees I had forgotten, and a MK1 Hotshot restorer I put away and forgot about

Forgotten projects: not forgotten but status unknown...

When my father brought some old boxes, one of them contained my Tamiya Leopard 1A4 tank.
I thought I never finished it and it was still missing parts in a half-build state, so I was very suprised it was complete and functional. ^_^

I also had plans to try a grasshopper gearbox on a Marui Big bear, and another box contained a complete gearbox and full set of lunchbox wheels/tires. Did not know I had those anymore. :D

I know some boxes are still unacounted for... Who knows what they hold...

I pretty much forget all of mine about a week after starting them lol 😂

Then it's just a case of rediscovering them every 6-18 months to get another weeks worth in before my attention pings away like a pinball again.

EDIT: Ok, I'll play along and list some!

Tamiya Falcon: Got it over 2 years ago as part of a job lot, snapped in half at the usual place. Awaiting a restoration.

Tamiya Farm King and Tumbling Bull: Bought these two together, one built and the other unbuilt apart from the shell. Both shells and drivers had been terribly painted. I spent weeks stripping the paint off the Farm King shell and repainting it and stripping the drivers, got fed up and set it all aside for another time.

Original Traxxas E-Maxx: Got this cheap a while ago, bought a few parts to make it capable of running a mild brushless setup. The gearbox is in parts in a takeaway carton somewhere, the upgraded idler gear is in it's packet somewhere else, the late model driveshafts and hubs are somewhere else yet again.

Approx 6 Nikko Dictators: 2 for restoration, 1 is a brushless conversion semi complete and there's a few others around the place somehere

4 Nikko 1/8 Ford F150 monster trucks: All in various phases of being upgraded in collaboration with Grandadstinky.

Radio Shack Hummer: Big 1/10 4x4 with wishbones all round and optional mattracks, 550 motor and metal gears etc. Just begging for hobby electronics and bearings, it's already on the verge of hobby grade.

An unspecified quantity of other Nikko and Radio shack vehicles.

A couple of those WPL military trucks.

Definitely not anything else......

CC-01 in the attic because I did not like how the hop up links fitted and last time I had it out the box I put a knife through my finger cutting out the shell.

MF01x with a City Turbo shell. Never got the shell 100% so stuck it in the shed

Rising Fighter NIB, because, well I have no idea

Lunchbox shell because I thought I could put it on something else, I was wrong.

I have dug out and sold on a few other ones over the last few weeks and intend to get it down to a manageable amount soon.

Compaired to the 4 rear CZ Trail bikes I had stripped and in boxes a few years ago this hobby is a breeze to keep track of.

Okay, I'll play along, these are all stalled projects... Just off the top of my head.

An ebay hornet, needs restoration, so does the white Futaba attack radio.

Super Hornet, needs painted and polished, outside of shell is scratched good decals

ebay Super G, dirty and broken but complete

Hotshot 2 and two supershots, back burner

Finish painting HG407, make video for parts I have printed

Edit and publish video for Cr01 Blackfoot conversion

Oh, and flip my M05ra Alpine to Rwd, decals and detail paint.

And two Golden Arrows, first one broken, bought another, will put good electrics in the first one.

I won't count what's in the attic or in the mail, but I'm thinking I'm not alone in all the sidelined projects.

At my parents' house I have the makings of at least 2 Optima Mids which I am hoping to one day reconstitute into actual cars.

Marui Hunter/Galaxy rebuild which stalled as I have not had the time to get stuck into it.

Kyosho Raider rebuild which is waiting on me remembering to borrow the tools from my Dad to drill the grub screw on the pinion out so I can remove the motor.

RC10 B4 which I bought from eBay, but which the guy hasn't sent. I had bought various upgrades and spares for it already and I am now waiting for the relevant time period to elapse so I can sic eBay on him for taking my money and not giving me my product.

Old Tamiya Grasshopper II I had in the garage, which in the absence of the RC10 is now looking like the best bet for getting a car actually moving in the short term. I also have a couple of Lexan VW Beetle shells out there, one of which I am hoping to fit to the Grasshopper.

That's not right taking your money and not sending what's yours now.  I hope you get your money back.

In two days I can refer it back to eBay and I am certain they will repay me. I have tried messaging the guy twice and he just hasn't responded. It seems he had a flawless eBay record up until a month ago and has had six negative reviews since, so I am guessing something has happened there to upset things. Could be anything. Sick family member, house fire, burglary, drug issues, who knows? The annoying thing is that I don't want my money back. I want the car.

King Tiger with scale thickness steel armour I started 8 years ago, hull was dovetailed as per the original and then TIG welded together:

Shredded the gears in the gearbox on the first run and it's been sat in the loft since, slowly bowing the rafters ...….

I don't know if I've ever actually forgotten a project, to the extent that I actually don't remember purchasing the stuff, but I definitely have things that are out-of-sight and therefore out-of-mind. And I also have quite a few abandoned projects, experiments in scratch-building mostly, that just didn't turn out well, or that I lost interest in, and are gathering dust.

Once in a while, I need to go through all the drawers and boxes in my workshop, just so I see everything again. It's a good reminder, before I drop a bunch of money on a new project, that I actually have plenty of things to do already.

Forgotten projects is my life....

Have around 30 cars in project stage at any one time, usually awaiting me finding parts. Painting is my nemesis as I was never any good and don't have the time in my day to day life. Thats changing now due to a few members on here painting for me.

I have projects that were listed 10 years ago on the site and still haven't moved on, cars like my Sand Scorcher, Ford Ranger, Super Champ And Audi Quattro. Fell out of love with them and they just sit there.

One of my biggest issues has been not having all the collection in one place. I drift away from Tamiya for work reasons and then forget I have something and buy it again! Moved into a new house recently where I can get all 250 together and its been fun "finding" things in the boxes.

@Juggular Just got a message from eBay that they have refunded my purchase and postage costs from the seller. It took them about an hour to do it from the moment of my complaint going in to them emailing me back with the confirmation. I can only guess they have had their eye on this person, for whatever reason.
