Idle speculation. The track I go to is buildjng a rally stage. I am not at all one for on road type vehicles, but if this facility is coming it might be nice to have something different in the fleet to play on this. Rear up a bit and the Type S seems to be the Go To TT02 for cheapish rally car thrills. Don't want to spend out on a XV01, but the new TT02RR caught my eye for having the upgraded prop shaft and oil filled diffs which would help tune the handling. Any thoughts?

The new TT-02RR chassis kit is more expensive than a complete XV-01 car kit. I'd go XV-01.

Unless you are considering serious rally competition, I wouldn't go for either of those two models. Rallying is very tough on the car, and anything with nice shiny blue bits is likely to get scratched up pretty quickly. However if you go for a standard TT without any shiny bits, the plain black plastic doesn't get scratched up anywhere near as quickly, and stays looking decent for longer. Fit a set of plastic CVA shocks, sealed bearings and a fabric Tub Cover to a standard TT, and unless you are a high level racer with finely attuned driving skills, chances are you won't tell much difference between this and a fancy blingy version.

Really? I have seen the RR for around 175.The only XV01 I can see is the Delta Inegrale which is about 250. Am I missing something?

Wonderland models have the XV-01 Delta kit on pre order for £184.99 due mid January.

The type S makes a better TT02 full stop imo.

Of all the cars using the reversible arms the TT02 is the only one that allows the arms to droop enough for rally duties. Although I don’t use my type S for rally (got a xv01lds) it’s a lot of fun to drive and I could easily see myself taking it off road.

The RR is certainly desirable with its oil filled diffs. If the diffs leak however your better off with the grease jobs. I’m not a fan of the pivot ball arms when used as a rally car.

Thanks Juls. Sounds like a Type S is the one if I go that way.

Reversible arms work well for rally. Maybe better than XV arms. But you have to grind fronts around C-hub a little to allow more than 15mm droop.

I used a TT01, I did cut the lower plasic under the front and rear arms, and used 60-65mm oil shocks. In the rear I installed alu GPM parts to add weight, alu prop shaft, alu dog bones and 55/25T gearing if I remeber right.

And It was fun and ground clearance was perfect.

not sure about the TT02 havent seen any rally conversions yet.

This is not me on the videos, I sold my rally TT01 few years ago. But I am tempted how to build it again

Yeah, I have seen that mod on a Type S rally thread on here. I also have a spare pair of mini shocks and some spare parts which probably only puts me a set of plastics away from having mini shocks all round. Also have some spare TRF201 and 501 setting springs so could go long damper style.
