Haha, unlike music & software, Tamiya's CDROM catalogs are actually advertising material. AOL would be rapt if anyone would bother actually copying and reselling their advertising discs. [8D]

But nah, for JPY1000, they're just about covering costs anyway.

Yes, but here in Europe they cost 10EUR or more both CDs and paperprints, wish they would be like catalogues of real cars which dealer give you for free... [B)] Tamiya earns from everything!, just look how many people collect their catalogues and rc guidebooks [;)]

That's right, they are €10 here... [V] Before the damned Euro came, they cost 15 Dutch guilders, which is a little less than €7... 10 euro is 22 guilders by the way, considerably more for just an advertisement CD.

Ahhh, the good ol' days... [|)] (daze???)

I actually had one of those CD-roms too, but my little brother tried to 'rewrite' with with a ballpoint and now it's ruined! [:(] He's still claiming he didn't do it with a ballpoint in his hand and a grin on his face... [:(!] I told him it wasn't a CD-RW!!! I'd have loved to still have that KBF movie that was on it! [8)]

Not me, but there's a few amongst us here who are also into collecting/trading 1:1 dealer brochures too; these freebies can still fetch pretty penny on eBay so it seems. Ahh, can't escape... [xx(]

Reality check here... Tamiya sells $200 toy cars, not $30,000 hunks of steel and glass for which they can earn a grand or five.

Tamiya did used to give those foldout B&W ones though, printed on beigey paper. (Conversely HPI did include their annual catalog in kit boxes, but HPI barely has 1/10th of the current models Tamiya has.)

Reality check part 2: Also $200 or cheaper product companies give their brochures for free, in fact RC is the only market which I can think of right now that you pay for their advertisment brochures! [;)][B)][:(!]
