Lee76 638 Posted December 9, 2018 This might be old news but might help someone so thought i’d Put it up, November saw the release of Italeri 1/9 Kubelwagen, I know these kits by revel were frequently scavenged for custom builds, in particular the engine. The old revel kits are selling for £135 ish on ebay, these new released italeri ones are about £80. You can see pictures of each sprue on the italeri website. https://www.italeri.com/scheda.asp?idProdotto=2748#
MadInventor 3884 Posted December 9, 2018 I think I'd be more tempted to buy it for the bodyshell, then cannibalise a SRB to make an RC kubelwagen. 1
Lee76 638 Posted December 9, 2018 I was just 5 minutes ago wondering if that could be done i might buy one to find out! I guess this way, you throw out the engine to make way for the RC motor and gearbox. I’m sure there will be plenty of takers!
Juggular 4914 Posted December 9, 2018 1/9 is huge. The 260mm wheelbase would be the same as the wheelbase of DF02 (257mm). Considering the boxy shape, it would look humongous! I still wish Tamiya could make a 1/9 RC Schwimmwagen. Tamiya already has static kits in 1/35 and 1/48 scale. (below is the smaller 1/48) Wheelbase in 1/9th scale would be rather short, 200mm. But 4x4 and amphibious! An RC conversion of Kettenkrad would be cool too! But plastic links would be too weak...
Lee76 638 Posted December 9, 2018 Agreed, swimmwagen would be cool. I might make a speculative purchase, i’ll Post some pics of the body over the web when it arrives. Worst case I have and engine possibility for the scorcher and a kubelwagen on my shelf waiting for my retirement...
