Are we the only ones keeping the R/C history alive?

Recommended Posts

There’s definitely a generation thing at play here, but RC won’t disappear.

Between the late 70’s into the early 90’s RC was still something quite radical being experienced by a generation who still went outside to play (rather than sitting indoors playing console games etc) & RC was still an advanced technology - considering that our equivalent of an iPad was an Etch-A-Sketch!

Much in the same way that model trains  enthusiasts have kept their hobby going decades after its heyday, the same will happen with RC.

Well I am glad, that in 2015 we official registerd our first RC Club in Dubrovnik, the closest official race track is 650km in the captial of Zagreb, so in the captial you may find 2-3drift clubs and that 1 official mini motodrome Ayrton Senna memorial im Zagreb, only for club racers.

thay are also thinking of a new layout on a new location.

http://zams.yolasite.com/nova-pista.php

our club has won in the last 3 years two first places and 1.second place in 1/5 petrol onroad class with top models from H.A.R.M and Genius.

To be mentioned the youngest first place winner is 15years old while other clubracera remain avarage 25~40

so it is getting very popular slowly here, but still not even close to other european countries.

so I am glad that myself was part of the first 11members who created this club and hopefully it could get passed on, to our youngest, sadly we are still agotiating with our city to get some funds and build a track in dubrovnik

Not to drag this post down, but I just found out that ebay seller JSourbeck had passed away in August at only 54 years old, so we all have an expiration date, of which we don't know when or why it will be, so let's enjoy the ride.

That name sounded familiar. I looked back at my receipts and found that he sent me parts for my Falcon and Brat. Sad news, but also cool to think how many old cars are still running thanks to him.

All I can do is give her every opportunity to enjoy RC with daddy, and if not, maybe she'll give me the opportunity to enjoy something different with her.

Favorite thing I've read today!

I take my super Clodbuster up to school to pick up my 7 year old from after school club.(I drive it up, he drives it back.)  (Most of the other kids have gone so it's quiet), one of the other dads recognised it the last time I was there and said he had one too.

It's not dead yet,  My 7 year old loves RC and everyone loves a Clod, they just need more exposure. There might be a few kids at his school asking for "that big monster truck we see at school".

Jim was a good seller and nice guy.  Sad to hear.  I bought many parts from him over the years.
