I have two shells I want to mount without body posts.

I have a set of eBay special magnetic mounts, the type that go on body posts.

What is the best way to use these? How do you know where to put the body magnets?

Please share your collective experiences :D

I keep meaning to try this magnetic body mount method too... this will be my guide video when I remember ;)

Good plan, will try it

Got a metal fitting kit like that one but nothing tightened up

i ordered a set from flea bay, there were two types one slightly more money, high quality Rare Earth magnets costs, that said you'd probably tear your Lexan body if they were too strong these do not look too difficult to fabricate for one's self, but they are not over priced ready made either. seems to be specific and universal styles to fit what ever, i hope they work well. velcro and body clips are getting old, even when i purchased a body post finder i thought of using magnets then, just never followed through on making them fit with what magnets i had already. what he's doing in his vid can't get easier than that, great, simple and to the post i mean point Ha!

The post mounted ones need quite a lot of post to work with I found.

I have ordered some magnets to play with and try other methods like the one in the video.

The one body I have used magnets with involved a lot of faffing around, it was before I found the above video and looking back now I feel daft the way I eventually did mine... but it works so ya boo sucks ;)

one thing I found though... the magnets were very strong so I actually stuck a layer of double sided tape on the chassis magnet but left the top side with the backing paper on.. this reduces the magnetic pull through the layer of tape and prevents me pulling the whole thing off which I feared might happen ( As in the magnet assembly would pull off the bodypost or worse)

I have had some turn up in the post today but with visiting the outlaws and Christmas I might not get them fitted for a good while.

These things are great in theory but lose their lustre in reality

They’re a pita to fit properly / securely - esp with any kind of contoured shell - and even then still leave rub or pinch marks vs body pin lines / scratches

The only way I’ve ever secured shells with enough flex to absorb bumps + no external damage is v thick / v strong velcro underneath ... which just transfers anchoring problems to the chassis and brings a raft of separate problems 🙄

This is only for a scale build or two not bashing so I hope they will be ok.

Not bothered about pins on bashers, I never even cut body posts

what is every one doing about the already holes in their vehicle bodies if changing to under body magnets? i purchased two sets of these for previous builds.......

Integy Magnetic Force Type Body Mounts : SCX-10 & SCX10 II C27175

i want to do a lbs. test i was thinking of using a fish scale and various weights to see all the different strengths of the now five different makes and brands & (non- branded) ones i have , and see how strong one against the other is.

A Stretch Armstrong test so to speak.

Strategically placed stickers, filler and touch up paint and depending where the rear ones come through an accessory of sorts could cover up depending on vehicle style.

well stay connected and have fun.

I am trying these on undrilled bodies or hard bodies with the holes filled.

A set of sand ladders on the bonnet should cover the holes though
