As the recent WT01 purchase from @Nobbi1977 has been also owned by @Grumpy pants , I've decided to do a bit of a build thread, to document its progress (?)

This is how it arrived.

And then the speed gears arrived soon after 😎

2018-12-15_02-48-04

Fitted a set of front optima mid custom shocks (x4) , 7mm wide hexes to fit the FTX Mauler wheels, and the speed gear set.

Ive called it a Hertz WT01, in the fact it's been passed about a bit, like the old Hertz, Rent-a-racer 350 Mustang,

It does mean the paint , which ever body , will be in the , Hertz Rent-a-racer livery 😀

Can't decide on the body, so may do a, like , vote thing on here, and go with the majority 🤔

what do the speed gears achieve?

Not a clue , ratio wise, 18t - 18.3:1 , the 20t - 16.5:1 , so guessing the 23t will be around 12:1 with the smaller spur and the 25t around 10:1?

I'm going for a castle 3800kv on 3s, and slightly small diameter tyres, so should have enough grunt. 🙈😂

How about a Mustang body?

I'd have to buy one!

Seems daft, when I've maybe 10 kicking about! 😬

Second on the Mustang shell, but might consider some other Ford product - maybe the WT-01 was a Rent-a-Blackfoot kind of deal? :P

In which case, the Blackfoot shell in black with gold stripes would be quite the option!

I do look forward to seeing where this project will head :)

I think that would be too....normal?

The Lamborghini shell would really need to hug the chassis, meaning burying all the elecs....🤔

I'll throw the tyres on, and take a couple of pics of each body, kind of, mounted (but the Parma Escort Cosworth is NIP 😬!?!)

I think a low light body is needed or this thing will flip and fly.

Nailing the lipo to the front bumper worked well on the Neo Fighter 😀

I'm torn between the Willys, Lamborghini and Escort.

As the NIP Escort bodies are fairly uncommon now, it's a flip between the Lambo and Willys?

(I've a Coors thunderbird body somewhere, and the TransAm I forgot to take a pic of today!)

The plastic bag :D JK The one above that, or the Willys on the bottom. I guess I like that old school look.

That's the Parma Escort Cosworth,  I wanted to fill that with plaster of Paris and get a mould, once I'd finished (well, started!?🙄) The vac former (same as the others tbh) as they were designed to fit the 1:10 buggy.

The Willys, I was going to do a ProMod or Pro Touring (defo not a gasser), but sat for years and I've done nothing......🤔

Needs a Top gear Hilux shell.  :)

Actually consider a, Fall Guy, rep truck body, but can only be Hertz livery now 🙄😂

Or mix it up and have a Front wheel drive, front motor monster truck.

Do you think the shell will be salvageable with a good clean after taking a mould?

Yeah, it'll be fine.

I used veg oil to line the others first, and the mould dropped right out, but that was just small shells,  frog, dark impact,  Ultima etc, but don't see why that would be different.

Yeah, that’s what i was thinking - there shouldn’t be any reason for it to not come out and the shell cleaned up, particularly because it shrinks as it heats and sets so should pull off the surface slightly.

Saying that, the last time i used plaster of Paris was when i was 10 so what do i know?!

      Hi Jon,
In the linked image, I've simply moved the bar forward until it is centered directly over the rear shock tower (approx. 10.72mm) and kept the same height.  Is this what you had in mind?
