Rough Rider Bruiser Wild Willy SJ30

Recommended Posts

I have a deep passion for the Suzuki SJ30, which led me to create something unique from using the new SJ30 body. Here's what I've come up with so far. I still need to shorten the rear axle shaft and drive shaft.

Parts I've used;

- Rough Rider front suspension from my Bel Ray build (middle bar used as rear body mount and cross member)

- Buggy Champ front wheels & tires

- Sand Scorcher rear body mount plate

- Bruiser rear axle

- Blazing Blazer U bolts

- Wild Willy gearbox

- Super champ universal joints

- Super Champ body mounts (surprisingly they align with stock body holes)

- Semi truck trailer leaf springs, spring hangers and shackles

- Handmade Jimny550 frame from laminated styrene sheets. Shortened it the way Tamiya shortened the SJ30 body.

Transmission mock up, I need to shorten the shaft so I can move transmission to center and mount steering servo in the front.

Thanks! I'm clueless about the front body mounts, I want to believe that they are Tamiya and vintage.

Well, they look the same as boomerang ones, just cant tell if they are the correct length. If they are, im not sure if the alloy ones were tamiya hop up or aftermarket.

Blissard - please tell me/us more about that gearbox you're using, as I was looking to do something similar for my mid-engine Beetle build.

Thanks guys! I've been away for a few months so couldn't do any work on this. I haven't run the gearbox before because I don't know if I have the correct electronic parts, also it's still not mounted. But it might be too speedy for a tiny car like this since it makes wild willy does wheelies. (Also I don't know if wild willy axle reduces or increases speed)

That's a work of art / genius.

I was thinking about doing a build involving a real mix up of parts. This is inspiration.
