Started fitting the pieces to the lower deck. Even with a well fitting screwdriver i found the holes were just too tight to get the screws in. I ended up putting a tiny touch of grease on each screw which let them drive in fully.

One thought i did have, it doesnt say in the manual but do these frp pieces need the edges sealing like carbon fibre does?

You could, but I've never found it particularly necessary with my FRP'd runners. It does lend to reinforcing the the edges though. Might be worth it depending on what kind of abuse you may have planned for this chassis ;)

Hardcore shelf abuse 😉

It will need to withstand an awfull lot of staring.

Top deck on and servo fitted. Ive pit an Alturn aas 700std servo in it as its cheap, and reasonably fast. It should do fine for the use its getting.

Got to say, this chassis does look nice. Would look even better with adjustable top arms and some sway bars though...

So, i think ill skip the rest of the electronics installation (acoms am reciever and 106p black edition esc) and move onto wheel building. Ill probably swap the wheels out for either 911 carrera fuchs or some hpi vintage 5 or 8 spokes but ill build the kit wheels too.

Any recomendations for some decent treaded tyres? Would be nice to have some road tyres on the second set of wheels. Dont have to be capable of winning races, just decent looking and reasonable.

Edit to say it looks like super grip radials are the only treaded option available in wide?

Really needs a better looking motor too. Ill probably just put a sport tuned in it, cheap and black :) but something's telling me to put a technigold in it, if i can find one!.

Wheels built, carefully tightened the screws in opposites to hopefully keep them true. Need to hunt out the glue for the foams so thats all for today. Got tomorrow off work so might even get the body cut and painted! Once thats mounted i can see if i feel the need to tweek the wheelbase, im aware the wheels dont quite end up central.oty4pau.jpg

Chapstick on the threads of the wheel screws will help keep them from cracking the gold plastic centers

Those screws seemed to go in quite easy. I guess they take a bit of stress though.

Gorgeous wheels, good luck with the body, will look awesome in black... obviously ;)

Now their built im tempted to take them apart, paint behind the gold centers black and black out the filled i  gold sections.

10000% do this - they look so much nicer than the orangey stock plastic colour with some gold paint and blacked out sections.

You have to paint them.  Pretty sure it's a law or something

I painted behind the centers and blacked out the filled in spokes. Look loads better. Foams glued and tyres fitted. Ive not glued the tyres yet.

I agree the gold plastic is a bit nasty, i may paint them a lighter gold colour, but im not a great fan of these wheels anyway.

Ive ordered a 911 carrera to rob the wheels from. I may put treaded tyres on the new wheels, any recommendations?

I also been playing with esc and receiver location. Rx will fit on its side behind the servo, esc will fit next to the servo. Keeps it all tidy on the lower deck and leaves me maximum space for a possible cockpit and the lighting system.

I also put a straight edge across the chassis to see how the suspension sat. I tweeked the shock towers untill all the lower arms sat evenly. Ill do my best at taking some measurements of camber etc once its fully built.

Now the wheels are on i can sit the body on and its clear the wheelbase will annoy me. Ill shorten it up a touch, probably modding the front arms. The rears already put the driveshafts at quite an extreme angle so dont want to move those forward and more.

There was a thread about this before with a guide to modifying the suspension arms to shorten the wheelbase but some people said theirs was fine. Can you post a pic with the shell on that shows how far out it is (I have one of these kits to make shortly)

I HATE trimming lexan! Why couldnt they have given this a nice hard body :(

anyhow, this is where id like the body to sit, but might need to limit the shocks.
