Thanks for mention. What sort of wheels are you after? There seems to be a lot of suggestions. Anyone got any reference pics of the exact wheels? And what style wheels are needed?  (touring, m-chassis, etc.)

Image stolen from ebay add, sorry vendor!

These are the original wheels, would need them in touring car size, 26mm wide fronts and 30mm wide rears though i believe. Not 100% sure what widths the current 934s use.

Could even do them just as centers to swap into the kits 2 piece wheels. Would save on printing costs but may be harder to design? I dunno.

Edit to say, 6 spokes and 5 screws! Maybe not centres then ;)

That is actually a really good idea. I happen to have both to get it right. 16"  911 Fuchs in narrow and wide width 1: 1 scale and a couple of 934 kits I haven't finished. Gimme a few days fellas. Or wait, is the greatest need for panasport centers or a proper Fuchs wheel?

Proper fuchs are available, its the 6 spoke wheels from the original tamiya porsches that i was hoping for.

I can give it a shot tomorrow because it's almost 2am here. I'm a bit out of practice with the CAD thang again thanks to being busy since Xmas so I might take a while longer to get a basic design up.

I'm looking for source pics of the real life wheels but I'm not having much luck finding anything but BBS Mesh types or Fuchs. Does anyone know the brand/model name of these 6-Spoke wheels?

The 1/12 scale six-spoke wheels that are picture above are from the original Tamiya 58001 kit, and are also original equipment for the original "Black Special" 934 kit.

Tamiya also did a version of these for the TTG "Black Special", but were designed to fit the Tamtech 10mm hexes and tires.

No one (that I know of) has done a 1.9 version of these wheels. My guess is that it's a design unique to Tamiya, and there's little interest for them outside of fanatical 934 replica-builders. ;)

So these weren't real life wheels for the 1:1 934? That'd explain why I couldn't find any pics of 'em. :D

Squint your eyes and you'll see Torque Thrusts with an extra spoke. My imagination tells me that Tamiya may have designed these wheels to be royalty-free and compatible with planned future model releases, which is similar to the approach taken to this day.

Taking a break from studies, I took a brief stab at the 58001 wheel. The only front on image I could find was a low res image on a black body set box. A better image would be helpful, as would the below measurements, I am sure i am forgetting a few. Currently scaled for a 1.9" rim.

If anyone have a set of these wheels and can provide measurements of:

Distance from wheel lip to spokes front and rear

Depth of dish front and rear

Minor and major diameters of the spokes.

I will probably print off a set of inserts for my 40th 934 to replace the mesh centers, we will see how feasible they are in that application.

Thanks,

Tony

Mounted on the car, printing and trying from above came out.. decent. It is a shame that it doesn't really work as an insert. Going to try again as a complete wheel. Some measurements would still be helpful though if anyone can provide.

Here's my attempt at an insert for the 2-Piece wheels. (Please excuse the last pic of the Torq Thrusts that I used for reference)

TBH I'm not sure if this is viable as an insert because of the 5 screw setup behind 6 chunky spokes. As you can see my 'solution' was to put a 'brake disc' in there which incorporates the screw points. It's not ideal but it's the best idea I could come up with. It's also kinda chunky at almost 2mm thicker than the standard 5 spoke insert. So, like @geniusanthony, I think going for a complete wheel would probably work better.

I agree with the both of you. No calipers just looks weird. I just couldn't think of any other way around it.

Nah. I didn't search for detailed measurements and I just eyeballed it because I was having enough trouble working out how to use Fusion 360's T-Spline function without worrying about accuracy. Now that I've kinda gotten a handle on it (maybe, sorta, kinda...) I might try to find out some details but, TBH, RC touring car wheels work out differently from 1:1 car wheels so it's probably not worth going that accurate. Measure up some standard 1.9" wheels to make sure you have the appropriate clearance for your RCs, that's probably the most important thing that I aim for when I'm doing wheels.

They will want to fit like the 934 wheels do, normal width in the front and wide in the back. I dont know the measurements off hand but can measure my wheels tomorrow.

I would like a set of normal width all around with 0 offset (like stock tamiya TC wheels) just love this pattern :)

@Scipunk 0 Offset is what's pictured in my last post. I'll finish it off with the last few bits and upload renders/pics again.

@graemevw Is this for the TA02SW? If it is then it looks like +4 Offset 26mm standard width on the fronts and +6 Offset 31mm wide width on the rears. Although I have a TA02 it is still to be built so I can't verify the offset. Does anyone have this model all built up and able to check/verify? If not, I'll measure up my 2-Piece wheels and try to put the offset according the measurements I get.

edit: nevermind. I've just seen your build thread and the pics of the wheels confirmed what I wanted to know. It'll take a bit of fiddling but I think I can get that depth of offset without it looking too weird.

Awesome thanks! I'll  just run 4 fronts...or 4 REARS! muahahahah OK i'm going crazy
