Hi all, I picked up a second hand Porsche Cayenne DF01 for my son the other day - it's in very good lightly used shape and after a re-set of the electrics it's all good to go.  However, there's one small issue - at mid to high speed when I turn hard left the front right drive shaft just pops out of the wheel axle (well actually it semi pops out and jams up the wheels and steering.  I've dismantled everything and all relevant parts seem to be in good order.  It seems to me that there's simply too much slack as if the dog bones need to be several millimetres longer - and when the axle and drive shaft are at extremity i.e. turning hard it can't cope.

I'm not overly familiar with this model and wondered if anyone has any ideas.  I mean it seems unlikely that the wrong drive shafts are in there.  Should there be a rubber o ring in the wheel axle and gear box joint to take out the slack?  Would this sufficiently solve the problem?

Could I try to regulate the amount of throw to the right on the steering arm - is this possible?  I don't feel that there's anything wrong with the current 'reach' both ways on the steering

Should I replace the drive shafts with new ones?  As I said before the existing drive shafts seem ok - though I don't have anything to compare them to.

Universals?

Has anyone else had this problem?

If any wise heads out there have some advice then I'm all ears.

I always run a small o-ring on the inner shaft of the gearbox where the dogbone rides, this prevents it from binding or popping out.  Give it a try, should fix your problem.  I run shock extensions on my Hummers with the suspension at full drop and had lots of issues with dogbones popping out.  O-rings on the gearbox outdrives fixed the problem for good, very smooth now.

YEah i agree the o-rings should solve the issue. When i converted my mf-01x to the long span suspension there were no o-rings used because the provided universals took up the space.
