Depends on the chassis and whether its got a full cockpit (ie one you can fit a figure in, like some crawlers) or a like a touring car chassis which can only really accommodate the tamiya vac formed drivers which are just a head and shoulders

As Superluminal says, it's going to very much depend on what sort of body-shell and cabin size you've got available - if it's a Lexan shell then I'd probably suggest fabricating an interior 'plate' that is connected to the chassis (above the electronics) and mount your driver to that, even if it means cutting their torso in half so it's just essentially head and shoulders... you can also detail the interior plate with the tops of seats/headrests etc to make things look more realistic.

That way, you can just remove the body as required, while the driver and interior stays in place on the chassis (and potentially protecting the interior/driver detail in the event of a roll-over too) - or depending on the body style you can always attach the interior plate to the inside of the body shell instead, so that the whole lot comes off for any chassis/electrical service work.

Alternatively, if you take a look at my showroom (or threads in the Builds section of the forum), you'll see I've managed to mount various Wild Willy figures - either the full body style or just the half size shoulders/arms version into the majority of my models...

In the case of Tam' Mater for example, that is actually a Sand Scorcher driver body modified with a Wild Willy head and gloves - and as a suggestion, the Sand Scorcher (or Monster Beetle/Blitzer Beetle) driver figure is a good way to attach a driver to the inside of a body shell without having to fabricate an interior, as there is an L shaped tab on the driver that can be glued/screwed to the door of the body shell.

Hope that helps...
