Building a new Manta Ray... with driver?

I wouldn't mind it bringing some extra bling, so blue alloy parts would look best.

Going by sizes from top force manual there are in blue aluminum 3x32 item 54249, 3x42 item 54250 and blue titanium 3x38 42219 from Tamiya. Also yeah racing and 3 racing have the sizes in silver titanium.

@MICHAELs TopForce17 Thank you.

One doubt: those measurements are fine for the turnbuckles, but I wonder if the 3x42mm would be long enough to act as upper suspension arms, too.

I measured the stock plastic ones, the front is 55 mm and the rear 66mm. Would it stretch the extra 13 and 23 mm with the right adjuster? Any experience in the matter? Thanks again

Thanks, now i like the Manta Ray :D

I never was attracted to that vehicle because of its unordanary Look. But with that flashy Colorsceme i love it :D

I neither liked the Dirt Trasher very much, but more and more i find it looks fantastic.I quite love the look of the Thundershot, becaue it reminds me of F-Zero (Videogame) Carts.

What brand of shocks did you use and what are the lengths of the front and rear?

Might have to change to FPR shock towers. is this gonna be a direct mount or you got to buy some TF parts to make the FPR shock towers work?

@MICHAELs TopForce17 Nice thread, thanks for the link, I think I've read it a while ago but it was good to do it again!

I wasn't considering switching to Top Force towers,  but I'll give it a thought, and in the meantime I'll still look for longer upper arms, maybe something else can fit mt stock towers.

@kid168 the shocks are the ones from RCdamper

The front ones are 97mm long, the rear ones are 101 mm.

No links unfortunately, but no need for one: just look up rcdamper on the most famous auction site. Great online shop with a lot of bling parts, good customer service, dunno the availability with the covid situation though.

Got it. Do you know the length of the factory yellow shocks?

That I do not know. I just never assembled them. I'm sure somebody else will know though

Found what I need!

These turnbuckles are available in the lenght I need.

I now have to figure out how to link them to the stock shock towers, which have a bigger bore.

Any thoughts on what part can do the trick?

A few hop-ups I've ordered a while ago finally showed up.

Front, rear and steering turnbuckles, aluminum hexes, hardened aluminum pinion, touring plastic gears, hard steel prop shaft, aluminum steering links and some vintage Eagle spiked tires.

I also got a bluebottle brushless motor that arrived today, unfortunately it's sensorless so I can't use it with the TBLE02s esc, which I forgot about when I bought it. The brushless experience will have to wait for another esc or a sensored motor.

Thanks @MICHAELs TopForce17 and @matisse for the help with the turnbuckles' measurements and links, I started the rear ones and everything fits perfectly so far.

It's probably gonna get a little face lift too, at this point

Done with the upgrades and the fecelift, plus a 13.5t Bluebottle brushless motor is now installed!

I took the car for a few speed runs on tarmac today, and wow! It's pretty fast, even on NiMh. Can't help wondering how it would be with Lipo...

Now that I tried it on asphalt I will mount the Eagle spiked tires for offroad and this round of upgrades will be complete.

When I placed it back I guess the driver was happy with all the new bling :D

I eventually got around to mounting the Eagle spiked tires on the Manta Ray, now it's finally complete!! I love how it looks so got plenty of pics while it's still spick and span, as within a few hours it will probably be all dirty again, with definitely no trace left of the lettering on the tires

This is such a cool looking buggy. Love this pic with the fluorescent colours on the dark stone.
