Nicadraus 6201 Posted March 12, 2019 Hello! Here's a 23 year old kit of my dad that I am re-building. It was left in a storage at my parents house since my dad passsed away in 2003. Last year, I picked it up when I decided to get back to RCing and re-build it. Here it was when I got it from the storage First was upgrade the suspension with new 100mm shocks Rear: Front: I created a new shock tower and made holes on the chassis to accommodate the 100mm shocks... Then next was replaced all plastic bushings with rubber sealed bearings
Mad Ax 9325 Posted March 13, 2019 That's great. It's always good to cherish a car with history and CC01s often seem to have history! I hope it gives you lots more good new memories as well as carrying some good old ones

87lc2 2666 Posted March 14, 2019 Very nice. I got my RC genes from my father as well. We still hit the trails every weekend we can get out and it's a blast. Build is looking good, will be nice to see the finished product.

Nicadraus 6201 Posted March 25, 2019 The wheels/tires combo and aluminum hex hub extender (12mm) arrived today. Also did some re-adjustments in the front shock tower. Drilled new holes for harder setting and filled the dampers with hard silicon oil. I like the screw/nut details. Unfortunately, there are only five studs. Should be six for the Pajero. But who can complain, this wheel/tires set only cost $15. Change the stock plastic wheel hex (6mm) to aluminum (12mm). Here's how she stands now... Just the right offset I want. Not too wide. New holes drilled on the DIY carbon fiber shock tower for stiffer suspension. 1
Nicadraus 6201 Posted March 28, 2019 Upgraded the steering set to GPM. and bearings are almost complete (98%). The only ones mising are the outer bearings (1260) for the front knuckles.

Nicadraus 6201 Posted April 27, 2019 New battery. Grind and shaved off some plastic in the battery bay to fit the Lipo. Now sits there perfectly. Also changed the plug to deans. Next is working on the body. I started to sand down and removed the "orange peel" effect from the previous paint. Still thinking what color to re-paint this. Will also add lights and modify the taillights and create buckets too.
Nicadraus 6201 Posted April 27, 2019 Continued the preparation for repainting today... Filled the antenna hole with putty. I also had to put a cover under first After sanding, hole filled. Tail lights... created holes for actual lights... Still have to file the edges of the tail lights holes.

Nicadraus 6201 Posted May 6, 2019 My daughter requested a Teal color. So I mixed the color today and sprayed 5 coats as base color for the body using automotive polyurethane paint. Will cure the paint and start masking the flairs for secondary color (silver with a few drops/mix of yellow). Clear top coat next and wet sanding to remove minimal orange peel texture then 3 step buffing. Will detail the window trims, grill, light frames, signal lights, door handles, key slots and others too. Final touch will be the installation of the lights, front and back. 1

Nicadraus 6201 Posted May 8, 2019 So did the masking of the flares and painted them to the secondary tone. Masked the inner windows Masked everything else that should not be painted. Mixed the paint, catalyst and thinner. Color is silver with drops of yellow. Painting... After curing the flares overnight, I masked the signal and tail lights for silver Then sprayed... Removed the masking once dried Hand painted the clear orange and clear red lights Will spray the clear to coat tomorrow if the weather is good. Then wet sand, buff and finish the details of the window trims, grill, emblem, and install the lights. 2
Kevin_Mc 411 Posted May 8, 2019 That is the perfect colour for the flares - it looks like it came straight out the Mitsubishi factory.

We had a 5-door Pajero back in '96 and I still remember retouching the flares when it hit a trash bin and left some scratches. The painter mixed the actual color to match the original shade and he used silver mixed with yellow. 1
Nicadraus 6201 Posted May 10, 2019 Cleaned and buffed the windows. The stains couldn't be removed with just soap so I had to rub it down with buffing compound and a buffing machine. Before: After Sprayed 5 layers of clear gloss top coat.
