MICHAELs TopForce17 583 Posted March 19, 2019 I recently picked up two vintage trucks a monster beetle and a king cab with very dirty yellow shocks. i have seen a few restorations where shocks were cleaned and made to look like new again. I tried soaking them in dish soap then using a tooth brush but that didn’t work. Also tried floor cleaning soap mixed with water but didn’t work either. How do you get your vintage yellow shocks clean? What cleaning chemicals do you use?

ruebiracer 1024 Posted March 19, 2019 I use hot water, brushes, dish Soap. After first cleaning, I spray Ballistol oil on the remaining black areas and let soak some minutes / hours. Then repeat the hot water bath. Not as comfortable as with ultrasonic cleaner, but works well. Ballistol oil is also hand- and plastic friendly.
Baddon 860 Posted March 19, 2019 Cheat and strip them and then put them in the dishwasher. I use an ultraSonic cleaner with fairy Liquid, then finish with a tooth brush.
