Tamiya konghead to Kongbox

So I picked one of these up about a year ago now and it’s been a blast 👍👍 I’ve had great fun building upgrading and bashing it but I’m getting a bit tired of the shell so I’m looking for a replacement. 

 

So im thinking of an ABS body seen a few guys use Bruder truck cabs and make a rear bed but that’s been done so I’ve just ordered a couple of lunchbox shells which I’ll cut and graphed together. 

 

This is how it’s sits now dirt and all

Hit a bit of a blunder last night on my part didn’t quite measure things up right and the front wheels are going to catch the body on full lock 🥴

 

So solution, do the wide mod but I’ll need 4x 5688 and 3x 9805551 which by the looks aren’t cheap £60 so there going to have to wait and I’ll crack on best I can in the mean time 

 

Need to pop out and get some nail files as the wife’s have all gone 🥴🥴 and get some fine filler from Halfords . Hopefully next pics will be of all the bits cut shaped and ready for gluing up 👍👍

Buy a cheap Wt01 or wild dagger to get most of the parts for the wide suspension.

Good idea 👍 I have my eye on a couple of Baja champs on eBay I believe they run the same arms and dog bones as I need ?

Little update front view it’s not in its mounting position put your get a rough idea 

Made a start on gluing it together it’s just roughed out for now still needs some tweaking but again your get the idea 

Still needs the other wheel arch put in and not sure if I should add another sunroof in there or fill it I kinda like the idea of 2 ? 

Also found these that might make a nice moon window or 2 

 

Something along these lines with leds in the rear 

 

Having a go at making some filler using off cuts and plastic weld not tried this before so wish me luck 

 

lastly popped out and picked up some supplies that should come in handy

Thank you I’m rather pleased myself and for a first attempt I think it’s okay, needs some filler and sanding but I hope it comes out well 👍👍

Cut the last wheel arch and extra sunroof in 

Think I’ll ditch the moon windows now I have the other roof though as it look to much ?

Inspiring build!!  You didn't ask for a vote, but I vote for a couple of moon windows... without them, it'd sorta look like a carton of cigarettes (unless you are going for a Marlboro livery, which would look cool too). 

Is the filler/plastweld strong enough for bashing?
