ESC (?) Identification

In a job lot of bits I came into there was this rather groovy old relic. Can anyone help me out with with some more details or a rough age?

Reminds me of the kind of thing my grandfather had around in biscuit tins and in his wooden toolboxes. The smell of old electronics really brought me back!

Any information welcomed, thank you!

The speedmaster gold star , was an esc from the late 80's.

I had (still have!) the silverstar, which was for/rev but would only run mild motors. If i remember right, the gold star was forward/brake only, but would run much lower turn/ modified motors.
