The Cool Wheels Thread

Recommended Posts

As I managed to get my neon Super G wheels back on Ultra G today, I thought "these are the coolest buggy wheels ever". But are they? What do you think are the coolest rc car wheels? Here is my submission

Tamiya Grasshopper 2 Ultra G by CTE RC

They are nice wheels to start with, but the colour is just 👌 Would love a matching set of Super Hornet wheels.

It's not a popular opinion, but I think my favourite style is the turbine-type wheel issued with models like the current Tamiya Honda City Turbo:

Tamiya-Turbo-City-RC-Old-School-Tuner-Im

The set is distinctive, with an interesting appearance that is so rarely seen in RC cars. It also mounts some cool-looking tires in those Advan HF-style treads:

The Michelin TRX-style tires that also fit are not bad, either!

Loved those wheels, too. Had them in white on my Parma beetle converted Subaru Brat, where they still are on.

My favorite wheels probably still are the teardrop wheels of the Vanquish/Egress, together with a weak spot for the Camlocks nowadays.

If it has to be newer, then the 5 star ones on the original Top Force Evo in orange.;)

For me it is probably Tamiya 50676. Especially when paired with a classic Mini shell and 55Ds.

Great topic. I love the early gold wheels (Super Shot, Fox, Monster Beetle) because they always seemed to denote that the cars that wore them were somehow special. I don't like the their fragility however. The original Hot Shot style wheel is a classic I never tire of. TXT-1 wheels are good-looking monster truck rollers. The Egress's lightweight black wheels look refined yet sinister. Living through the days when neon was king, I too, harbor a love for the day-glow Super G wheels. If I had to nail down a favorite, I'd guess I'd say Avante Cam-Locs. They're quite unique which makes them well-suited to the Avante.

So you seem to need the Avante black special wheels: Retro neon, and Egress design.:D

I have to admit I bought a set for my Avante 2001 as alternative...

Not Tamiya but I just got a set of Kyosho Tomahawk wheels and I think they are great , I also like the Dyna Blaster / TR15T / Street Rover wheels and tyres combo . I also have thing for the Kyosho Sideways wheels and tyres , they are like steam rollers !!

Sees and Tecnacraft aluminum wheels were always the ones I drooled over back in the day. Advance Mini-Mags, too.

Those aluminium monster truck rims are lovely! I am a big fan of the Egress wheels too. I love them on my Thunder Dragon. That said, the other set of wheels I have for that are high up on my list. These are full random, Chinese ebay vendor specials that I bought about 10 years ago when I briefly flirted with getting my Thunder Dragon running again.

My Thunder Dragon 20181117_160624

Full boggo 2.2s but I REALLY like them. So much more character than disc racing wheels.
