Hi I have a FF01 Chassis with Golf IV V5 Body.

Now I am looking for pictures of FF01 Cars with the FRP Chassis set (Hop-Up Options # 53166) . It is usable for 4wd TA02 Chassis touring/rally & FWD car models.

My problem:

I have this kit but only the upper and lower carbon decks. I don`t have the spacers and I am not sure what belongs to this kit.

I will make a picture and post it in my showroom.

Please, I need some pictures of cars with the frp chassis set.

Please check out my site for some pics of my Renault Clio FF01. It has many hop-ups, including the chassis and spacers I think you are talking about! [:D]

The link is www.tamiya.tk and it's in my signature as well. [^]

The upper and lower decks are pretty useless without the other parts from the kit. There are plastic parts that support the decks plus create a battery pack enclosure. Also, the J parts tree has separate steering arms for both the 4WD and FWD chassis applications. If you do have the carbon plates, they are a separate hopup (53195) that replace the fiberglass reinforced plactic (FRP) plates that come with the 53166 kit. The carbon plates are more rigid and lighter weight. There are some pics of the complete kit on the web, such as:

The kits are still available for about $50 US.

Thanks to both of you for the hints, (@sjoerd) nice web site [:)]

My problem is that I am not sure if I can find the missing parts I need to complete the chassis. I looked at modellbau witkowski page but I do not know if the parts are suitable for my frp chassis [?]

As I said , I have only upper and lower decks and nothing else :)

Is it possilbe to buy the steering, spacers and the battery holder apart ?

I have added a pic of what I got in my showroom. [V]

Somebody offered my a nib carbon kit for ta02&fwd - what would be a fair price to pay?

Which other hop up parts would you consider as helpfull to improve the car's handling and performance (besides new shocks).

@S.

Did you make the hole for motorcooling by yourself or is it a hop up part?

Didn't you change the shocks of your clio?

It looks pretty nice with that dynatech & chassis .

Isn't it hard to drive with the standard shocks ?

I put a Dyntech 01 R and a good 7,2v battery and the car was quite hard to drive around corners [}:)]

The hole for the cooling is definately not a hop-up part. I bought this car second-hand and the previous owner (one of the many) has sawn out the hole himself. That it was not molded this way is also visible as the edges are quite rough. Will work on this later... [;)]

I changed the shocks for the Clio. It came with 3 Pink ally low friction damper and one CVA plastic oil filled shock. I am told the the 4th pink damper contained air and EXPLODED while running (air gets very hot, expands, nowhere to go, presure builds up... BOOM). I have put 2 of these shocks on my M-01 and the 3rd one on my F103L. The short time that this car was ran it borrowed 4 CVA shocks from my TA-04. I had no problems with the shocks whatsoever. As the FF01 comes with CVA's as a standard (just like I fitted), these should be up to the job.

Other than just looks the alluminium dampers add only marginally to performance, so I suggest leaving these as-is for now. It wasn't very hard to drive though FWD is something to get used to. You can do pretty cool and fast cornering with it, it takes some practise though. There is an article on this in the RC Guidebook, all later editions should have it. If you like I will further enlight you on the subject here but I don't want this read to be too long [}:)]

Unfortunately, the car is no longer being used. It's in need of a new set of wheels and tires, shocks for it's own and maybe something a bit less hotter than the Dynatech, which has seen quite a life. The 02H needs a new set of brushes and a clen-up, though I didn't manage to open it up yet. In a FWD car, a extreme motor will only give lots of wheelspin. Also the body has never been something nice to look at and desperately needs replacement to make it look any good. Today it's in a crate like some piece of junk... [V] I hope to bring new life in it soon but it's a bit of a forgotten car...

Does anyone have Clio or Ford Escort wheels (VGC or NIB) to offer me as wel as a Clio body in VGC or NIB? [8D] I might have stuff to trade. Many thanx! [:D]

Nice story you have been told but many facts speak against it:

Air doesnt explode.

A oil/gas mixture could though possibly like in a diesel engine, but for that you would need pressure over 100 bar, as explained below not possible in such a damper.

Gas can get hot in a real car damper where pressures and strokes are much higher but dont think enough in a RC car.

RC dampers are oil dampers as in such small dimensions its hard to keep them even from leaking oil, from that you can understand no way they can allow a high gas pressure inside to build up it would be already released from the seals.

Talking about (ab)used rc car bodies and to hot motors on a fwd ......... then look at mine ;-)

see the tires, the were "almost" new but didn't last very long with the dynatech
