Hello,

I've been kicking around the idea of building a 58044 tribute using the Montero 58499 as a base.  I already have the necessary Brat wheels and tires and I'm well onmy way but I've hit a snag.  Not sure what to use for the suspension.

Can anyone tell me if the suspension was used on any other cars? Are the front shafts and springs the same as used on the Grasshopper and hornet by any chance?

There has been a few members who have done that.

I've used Tamiya on-road aluminum mini dampers for the front (upside down). As you suspect, I think I used the Grasshopper (or the Hornet) front shafts.  I don't remember where I got the soft springs for the front.  The rear is a bit too stiff for the weight of the chassis.

Because it is top-heavy, it tends to roll.  That's why I swapped the rear axle holder with Hornet ones. It took some carving to fit.  But it lengthened the wheelbase just about 1cm.  I do have the fishing line mod, but it still slaps the chassis, so I have a sponge.  It drives better, but it might have a slight fit issue with the body.  The chassis is light, so I'm contemplating on removing oil from the shocks. Few drops might be enough.
