Simple question:

How good are Sand Scorcher rear tyres on dry sand [?]

They look like they should have good forwards traction, but be hopeless on sideslopes. Is this so [?]

How about the Blazing Blazer on dry sand [?]

Thanks everyone. [8D][:D]

None of the tyres mentioned have any kind of sideways traction, whatsoever, i reckon`.

If you want more "all-purpose" traction-type tyres, go for the "All-Weather" spiked tyres instead, as used on Hornet, Frog, and Super Champ..

Much more racing-oriented...

Cheers.

I have a Rough Rider. Sometimes take it to the beach at low tide. Too many tourists about now though. [:(][;)] I have some very worn SS tyres in my spares box, and new ones are available on ebay now. So was just curious which rear tyres are best. [?]

Also have some HPI adaptors, so could fit them to my XC crawler.

Thanks. [:D]

For a Rough Rider i would go for the "All-Weather" pinspike tyres off the Super Champ, Frog and Hornet for maximum performance. I run a hopped up RR on std. rear tyres (Sand Blaster 915) in combo with the Sand Tires unlimited straight rib pattern front tires of the SS, but my standard Super Champ performs waaay better on it´s ùnlimited all-weather rear spiked tires. Here i also must add, that my RR runs with the Twinset alu-chassis, ESC, and CRP coil-over shocks, instead of std. springs and shocks, and still, the SC is superior in handling and traction due to the All-Weather rear tires, so i would suggest you try a set of these on your RR..

Have fun racing...

Well, got a pair on ebay, so will give them a try soon. Tread bars are not very deep, best to avoid hard surfaces I suppose?

Of the SRBs, only the Ranger has wide front tyres. How does its handling compare to the others? I am just trying to get the best from my Rough Rider.

Many Thanks. [:D]

"Back in the day" most people ran SS and RR with F150 front and rears. The rears were longer lasting than the SS padlatraks and the wider fronts reduce the rollover tendency with the narrow fronts.

Like always depends on the surface. On last big German TC meeting we had a SRB "race" on sand and SS paddles prooved as the best choice giving good thrust, my Ranger had much more wheelspin and was stucking easier, maybe if you would cut every second raw of blocks it would have been better...
