So I’m starting on my falcon build - I have 2.5 sets to make good

the first one I bought as a rolling chassis and cleaned up however I then bought a huge box of spares, 1 filthy chassis and lots of brand new parts.

so maybe making 1 shelf Queen, and clean up the filth and making that a rolling chassis to sell on.

I’m struggling to locate the rear suspension arms (I’ve not got very far into the build) and the fronts I can get 3D printed.

the rears look just the like monster beetle - but I guess I’m not that lucky!

Some new old stock...

The pieces I’m struggling with most (just to find let alone afford) are...

4305166 - resistor cover (it’s a part that’s on a lot of the older cars - e.g. hornet)

9005202 - drive shafts (comes as a set but tbh I just need 50mm dog bones)

2685016 - body mount (it’s the self tapping one)

any help much appreciated :)

ill give an update on build progress for each of the 3 falcons in a bit

Just ordered a Racing Fighter Black Edition as its birthday month (in a few days) so jumped in before they have all gone. Can't wait for it to arrive.

Just finished the chassis build of my racing fighter black edition.

its my first DT-03 and it was a really nice build. Love how it all went together and some really sweet little features such as the bathtub chassis being in 2 halves and how the rear gearbox and suspension just slots into the chassis - very nice Tamiya.

will do the shell over the weekend but for now...

the special edition supplements the DT-03 with :-

Hi-Torque Servo Saver (Black) (51000)
DT-03 Lightweight Gear Shaft (5x45mm/2pcs.) (54560)
DT-03 Full Turnbuckle Set (54572)
4mm Flange Lock Nut (Black, 8pcs.) (54642)
RS-540 Torque-Tuned Motor (54358)
DT-03 CVA Damper Set (54567)

plus I added a gool-rc programmable brushless motor and ESC combo (because it was red)

Shell painted and stickered

Some non box art approaches

50wqAvu.jpg

Cut out the black from the silver frame decals and left the “frame” body coloured

MksCUqs.jpg

I also didn’t bother with the bonnet DT-03 Decal (just used the vents) and did my compulsory tamiya sticker sheet decal

Bcc3c6X.jpg

and I also left the decals off the upper section of the side pods.

took it out for a spin and it was good - need to programme the motor/ESC a bit better if I’m going to run it longer term

just got my lunchbox mini to build now - trying to get my 9yr old to help me

LOL, I can see your well down the slipper slope......I am a little furth down but your looking like catching up.

I started to "just restore my original 3 buggies" and have ended up with 16 on display as well as 5 bashers.

My personal fav of yours is the Terra Scorcher. I have all 4 of the Thunder shot family and the TS is the pinnacle of that particular tree.

I’m looking to refurb the Scorcher at some point - potentially with an MCI sticker set as my shell is in good but “child” condition and I want it perfect :)

its the only one I’ve not stripped down and cleaned fully

Ordered MCI decals, TBG shell and some PS4 (cheapest from eurocarparts) to create a new shell for the Terra Scorcher

then I can keep the original
