I always thought they would be popular but I couldn't have been more wrong, they sat around for ages unsold. The buggy replicas sold much more easily, probably to collectors of the full-scale ones. Poorly supported in the UK at the time too, I seem to remember the official batteries being really expensive! Of course what was once unpopular means it is now rare and desirable.
