I’m loving being back into tamiya

ordered a lens set for the lunchbox from ampro and a led flasher kit 

can’t wait to try to fit all that

Just trying to get the DB-01 Durga finished off 

it just needs a brushless motor combo and some silver paint to back the current scheme 

 

neon orange and graphite cockpit area 

chassis is pretty amazing 

 

everything is FRP and all the fixings are threaded and not self tappers 

ball diffs front and rear 

twin belt drive 4wd

Been trying lexan cutting using the score and fold method

Thanks to Tony - got a set of stabiliser bars for the Durga today and fitted 

some parts needed in the Durga kit and some in the hop up kit but it all comes together well.

you get 3 x thickness of bar so I went thickest

it’s mainly about taking your time.

rebuilding the cars I had in my childhood has been fantastic (I had to buy these again as I had no money when younger and traded and only bought 2nd hand)

new builds just work through with no rush

the chassis build is the simple bit - putting some time and thought into the shell and then the decal placement is the bit that you should take as much time as possible. Even with some of mine I’ll be half way through and which id masked something else off or cut something differently

I've got a Plasma Edge II coming and it's due in 12 days. I've had to pre-order it as stocks are low right now in many models. As you may well know. I just bit the bullet and ordered, instead of emailing shops here, there and everywhere to see when they're expecting stock. I'm playing the waiting game now, yet eager to start building >.<

I've got some on my watch list. I've not succumbed to clicking the button yet.

If you get Yeah Racing stuff from RC mart (drive shaft, cups, motor mount, steering set) then they will take a few weeks to arrive.

Always put in bearings - so worth it

Adding a ampro lens kit (From shapeways) to the cannonball run lunchbox  with an AliExpress lighting kit 

 

expensive for some pretty small parts but that’s the shapeways delivery costs 

 

the detail is superb though!! Well done @ampro

 

took a few hours of experimenting to get things working how the instructions say they should

 

Need a few additional LEDs and they are on their way from amazon!

Got my fake tamiya - very quick delivery £34 to my door

 

 

it’s a good size and well packaged 

 

shell is stunning and has a plastic film over it so it’s clearly “painted” on the inside 

 

 

 

the chassis is....well..... a chassis - just

 

Front suspension is poor 

Rear is better 

 

it’s got a small motor and an interesting steering “servo”

 

biggest issue it was shipped without a transmitter

Added yeah racing aluminium prop shaft to the manta ray today 

 

just had to snip off the little black post that stops the very thin OEM shaft from wobbling
