when I was v young, the lunchbox junior was all I could afford to own

I’ve just delved in to the world of mini 4wd too. Seems like a cheap way to get a fix when a full kit is not on the cards. I’m keen to start looking in to the mods. Also a good place to get the kids involved.

Managed to pick this up off eBay this weekend (I’ve been looking for a brushless 2WD basher and thought this was a bargain for £100)

MLOncwP.jpg

not heard of the make before as I’m tamiya focussed but....

Team Durango DEX210 (2 being 2wd and 10 being 1/10)

in the deal it’s got

4000mah 2s + charger

brushless sensored motor

easyrun ESC

Tx and Rx

spare shells and chassis and parts

looking forward to giving it the once over. Anyone know much about this this make?

They were quite popular a few years ago, there were various configurations, the most popular for racing had the motor in the centre with a prop shaft to the rear diff.

Not loads, but I think the quality is good. Looks like an ex club racer car. Will probably work well on astro or carpet with a mid engine layout.

Thanks - hopefully it’ll do well at the skate park - there are plenty of spares out there (which will be needed if the TT02b is to go by)

Well the DEX210  has not been as 100% awesome as I thought but still pretty impressed

Firstly the slipper was non existent and the slipper plate was glued to the spur gear which lasted about 30seconds of running on the desk

Secondly there were missing screws and a few missing parts and the rear wing was pretty destroyed

Finally because it was set up for racing, the ESC needs some work to get it running properly

But I’ve given it all a good strip down and clean and pretty impressed with the full FRP chassis

it’s also had a lot of extra parts to upgrade it to the V2 - metal chassis etc

eYvkvTL.jpg

it looks pretty sweet with the OEM shell

anyone know what part A2 are called and if you can buy them on their own?

The DEX210 is very similar to the Zahhak in how it’s assembled and those bits are missing from the build so the rear lower arms are a bit wobbly

Updated the neo scorcher with GPM tie rod and turnbuckle set (pics soon)

was also having servo jitter so tried a few servos and they were all the same but finally found one that had no issues (after swapping out the Rx as well)

also got some more updated parts for the DEX210 so it’s now almost ready to run

again, pics to follow

I need to clear/complete some of my projects

as an aside, me and my son built a small model greenhouse kit - some of the detail is bonkers but it came out really well

JY5dea7.jpg

pgH2DGf.jpg

All items were built from base materials

(I.e. this cupboard was flat packed and the handles were cut from a gold Bit of wire and bent to shape)

uApAE5h.jpg

we even went a bit further - note the tamiya masking tape cut into tiny little strips as tape for the painting

KHFAb4R.jpg

All so very fiddly

yu4UcCN.jpg

the stool has a material cover and the pencil on the easel is made of a blue cocktail stick, sharpened with a black tip added. We included an orange rubber for fun

lPisp4c.jpg

To demonstrate scale...

XX938Ax.jpg

anyway - final model...

KTAxuHS.jpg

includes working pendant light, handmade tools, cardboard black frame, tap with glue water drip and many many more bits (so many we just didn’t make)

was great fun though

The DEX 210 is finally back up and running

I thought I’d had some issues with the slipper / reverse

what was happening was the slipper was fouling in the motor plate and locking up

ordered a new layshaft spacer

YFRIwbk.jpg

The top shaft adaptor (shown below) was locking into the motor plate so this new spacer and 4 shims instead of 3 and it’s all running well now

HFYYxCU.jpg

the car was also short a few bits so got revolution design parts from RudDog in Germany (top deck bushings, battery plate and thumb screws)

V0yfPdp.jpg
KEq5fKW.jpg

it’s looking and driving so muncher better now

Problem you are the man!  This is a great thread. I especially love your 540 coffee mug, Tamiya banner and of course all your cars. There are cars in this thread that I’ve never heard of so it seems like being gone from the hobby for 30 years, I’ve got some catching up to do.

I’d suggest subscribing to Tamiya legends and RC Kicks YouTube channels

loads of knowledge and great videos

Decided to upgrade my 11yr olds Kyosho NEXXT today

Because it’s part of the EZ build range, things like the gearbox, dampers, wheel etc are all pre assembled

it’s always been a great car to look at and to drive around (for a young-in)

I noted the damper units were hollow and were just like oil filled dampers but without the oil.

So I had a Google and there is a £7 kit

so I grabbed my child and a screw driver and off we went and disassembled the dampers

muxErwF.jpg

the kit contains lots of small spacers and washers

xsS7UZO.jpg

it’s easy enough to assemble

qasK5wB.jpg

rubber washer / plastic spacer / rubber washer / plastic cap

x4

UngGvtU.jpg

yZa0Yfp.jpg

other end just a simple o-ring

B6dDjPa.jpg

unlike Tamiya you fill from the bottom and also unlike tamiya there is no rubber cap to create the air gap so it’s hard to know how this is gonna work

J2LRzxJ.jpg

and as expected, initially they are totally incompressible.

What the instruction say is to keep the bottom seal loose and then move the piston so oil leaks out then wipe clean and tighten finally

IQ1lv4b.jpg

anyway - fitted and they work ok

not bad for £7

Got my son to also fitted a 15T brushed thunderbolt motor just to give it a bit of extra speed ;)
