Shodog 1835 Posted July 4, 2019 Well pleased with this eBay buy. Back in ‘06 I bought a Porsche 934 30th anniversary kit and I could never bring myself to break the beautiful blisters and build it. I bought this ready to run car and as luck would have it I left for work travel the day this box showed up. I had to wait a month before I got to open it This 934 has been run gently and I plan to keep it a runner. The chassis has some light scrapes on the underside. So I bought a new chassis for it if I restore it down the line. But for now I’ll use a chassis protector I made from thin G10 fiberglass. I doubled up the fiberglass in the rear The body is well done and has led lights installed. I’ll try to run this gently until I can paint another body from the 40th release that I won’t mind will inevitably get messed up. I’ve ran a few packs through it and it has a super tame motor which is great for keeping the body intact but boring to run. Do I switch out the ESC and Motor for something more high end and faster or keep it the way it is and preserve the car. I’ll have to decide what I want to do as it would be nice to take this back with me on travel give me something to run in the hotel parking lot

Nicadraus 6199 Posted July 4, 2019 What chassis is it? Looks like a M but not sure what type. Nice to see fully hop-upped.

Based off of a TA-05 but in 230mm wheel base to fit the 934 body
Shodog 1835 Posted July 7, 2019 This morning I set out to replace the ESC And Motor for something faster. As I suspected it was a tame 35 turn motor. I dug through my boxes of goodies and came up with an 11x3 team Orion revolution motor and a Novak GTX to power it. Got everything installed and plugs and motor soldered up. Took it out for a run and discovered a new set of issues. Diffs are way too loose and I’m not loving how it brakes with the front one way. I may change it back to the stock pulley. I’m getting radio interference so I’m not sure if it’s the way I have the antenna mounted or having no motor capacitors.

If you mean those small ceramic capacitors, then yes, brushed motors generate quite a lot of interference without them.
Scott_CT 30 Posted July 9, 2019 question on a slightly different topic regarding this model. I know that the 84431 (40th anniversary) and the 47362 (Black Edition) share a common body (1824141). How different is the body for the 49400 (1825465)? I really like this color scheme and have access to a full vintage body kit but I am not sure if it will fit. Truck Norris 2237 Posted July 9, 2019 The 49400 30th body is almost identical to the 40th (inc Black Edition and the Tamico Vaillant version). The 49400 body has more excess Lexan around the base (the 40th body excess is reduced to enable it to fit the smaller box). The only other difference is the 40th has dimple marking for the post holes for the TA-02SW chassis as well as the TA-05. The 49400 is only marked for the TA. Assuming you have the holes in the right place they fit either chassis (wheelbase issues on the TA-02SW notwithstanding) 49400 30th left, 40th right:

The 40th and black one both have 49400 molded in the body Two extra dimples as body mounting in the rear is different Not super big fan of the Valiant livery. I love this body I painted. I think it’s going to become my runner body

I don’t see a way to mount the motor capacitors or if their needed. They might be internally installed in the motor. I’m at the point where I’m going to go brushless and 2.

Maybe a super dark blue or the infamous Porsche Yellow
Juhunio 6830 Posted August 29, 2020 Hey @Shodog Love your 934. Just finished a TA02SW myself, lovely build. It goes together SO nicely, and is a beautiful quiet runner. Also have a 49400 that I bought as a built but unused kit, now dismantled and ready to rebuild with electrics. It’s immaculate, very excited about rebuilding it! Context covered...I was wondering what rims you have on your Violet beauty. Are they the 49400 rims or something different? I was surprised to find the 49400 has 24mm med/narrow rims with staggered offsets, rather than 26mm up front and 32mm at the back like the TA02SW. I’m looking into alternatives for the 49400 but can’t find much. Did you find anything outside of the kit rims that fit? cheers! 1
Shodog 1835 Posted August 30, 2020 The wheels are some inexpensive one piece 1.9 plastic mesh wheels from eBay titled Plating Wheel Rim Offset 9mm 4P 2082 Fit RC HSP HPI 1/10 On-Road Drift Car The 49400 wheels are actually quite nice. Much better quality than these mesh wheels above. I was lucky enough to find a spare set before they started selling for crazy prices. Kawada makes some great wheels that come in a 31mm wide rear. These would fill a 934 wheel well nicely 1
