Blazing Blazer Re-re in the near future?

Recommended Posts

Why wait for Tamiya to come out with something when you can make your own. While building my TFL Bronco I noticed that with some significant modifications a RC4WD Blazer body could fit over the cage. With addition of a wing would make a cool truck

Reminds me of a quick "tongue in cheek" project I did about 10 years ago. Dubbed the "Budget Blazer", it's clearly not meant to be taken too seriously. A year or two after I did it, Proline turned out the Blazer CGR, which is better suited for a Blazing Blazer tribute model, so i bought this body too, not knowing that the wheelbase is 313mm. As i didn't have a chassis with this wheelbase, the CGR body was put aside and nothing has happened to it since. At the bottom, the catalogue photo of the Proline Blazer CGR body.

Thanks, but I wish the CGR body had the 280mm'ish wheelbase or I a suitable chassis for the 313mm wheelbase of the CGR. A Budget Blazer with the CGR body and a suitable (scratchbuilt) roof wing would surely have looked so much better.

Stumbled over this on Twitter a couple of weeks ago. I remembered the name of the page then, but have meanwhile forgotten. I would have done a couple of things differently (omitting the Landfreeder logos, different wheels, no text on the tires, smaller Sand Scorcher driver instead ot the BB driver etc.), but the basic idea of just not painting the upper part of the cabin is pure genius; achieving the "airiness" of the Blazing Blazer, but without loss of robustness.
